I'll be there, despite the sodding rubbish headliners (maiden excluded ofc).

Still it should be a good year, worth it to see maiden, lamb of god and machine head (who are touring with LOG atm, so i rekon will play) alone tbh

Can't help wishing that Linkin park and MCR were not headlining though, neither of them should be headliners really..second billed maybe..but there are bigger bands likely to play this year more suited to headlining a metal festival than two nu-pop bands

I'm not into festivals, I like single night gigs and seeing big bands there. I met Dallas Green when I went to see Alexisonfire because we just hung around after the gig and there were about 10 people there then Dallas just came out to hang.

I don't see why we idolise these music people, they're just regular people mainly hyped up by media.

festivals are great fun - and are about MUCH MUCH more than just the music

Sure the music is good fun, and thats why lots of people go..but the whole experience of camping with your mates, being totally pissed/wasted for 5 days straight..waking up in your own personal sauna (like last year), 'experiencing' the holes in the ground that are supposed to be toilets..the festival food (c'mon who DOESN'T love the pork and stuffing baguettes?). The music is only half of why I go to festivals

Linkin Park headlined in '04 though so I imagine they wouldn't accept anything less than a headlining slot, personally having them headline the friday wouldn't have been a kick in the balls but MCR? they should be headlining the tent at best, regardless of my opinion of the band they ain't mainstage headline material.

Nah, theres nothing better than staggering back to your campsite and cracking a can of warm strongbow on a rickety camping chair followed shortly by the end of day blunt....

gimme that over a cheap hotel room any day.

They're going to need to throw considerably more respectable metal bones in my direction before I even consider pushing £145 their way...

I'd only definitely pay to see one of those bands live outside of a festival (Maiden) and whilst I'd like to see C.O.B/Slayer/Lamb of God and (if they only play Burn My Eyes era stuff, and don't open their mouths between songs) Machine Head, they aren't good enough to make the dross that's going to surround them permissible.

£145 quid? I remember ages ago I went to the Big Day Out in Milton Keynes and wasn't even a patch on that!

Still, I'll probably end up there I bet... Not the worst line up in the world!

Ill be going with a freind for the first time, well both be 17 so its our first big festival so should be a great time.

We bought the tickets 3 days after they went up for sale, so far weve spent £210 each. £154 per ticket after the processing and delivery i think, £6 for a locker each, and £50 for a bus each down from Scotland - Fife.
Now to save for the living requirements...food and beer

Needs new monitor / speakers / headphones / keyboard.
Before that i need money :s

I'm off to Download! I've been to Leeds fest for the past 6 years but unfortunately I'm starting a new graduate job in August which will require me to work that weekend, so I'm off to Download instead. My Girlfriend has been to download before, and I gather its a bit more hardcore than Leeds, should I be scared?
