I voted for the first time today. I was considering not voting as my vote will not change the outcome and I don't really agree with the whole 'it's your duty as a citizen' argument. The reason I did it though was that my vote would counteract one of the racist idiots who want to get the SNP in Scotland and drive its economy into the ground, and that was worth it for me.
I voted for my first time. Sure as hell wasn't tory
I didnt vote because im a student, and unless my vote effects the price of alcholol or 'own brand' food then im not fussed. (That and i was too busy sleeping off last nights antics. )
We students got forgotten by society a looong time ago.
Vote Tory for cheaper own brand food.
Vote Labour for really expensive own brand food.
Vote Lib Dem if you think its funny that Lembit Opik is nobing a cheeky girl.
Thats about the size of it, student. Vote Cameron for well cheap beans and noodles, innit!

I couldn't be arsed to walk to the polling booth simply to put in a vote of no confidence, I will for the general elections though.
i didnt vote because i was doign uni work while the place was open (still am actually)
I didn't vote because I missed the vote here last year moving from Tunbridge Wells too late (they haven't had one this time as it's not been a full year since the last) and as I'm not a T.Wells resident anymore I can't vote in that one!
I counted at T.Wells though, so I kinda feel I've helped in a way.

Ahh apathy, the true enemy of democracy....
Well my view is, if you didn't vote, then you have no right to voice any opinion about the state of the country.
Ever the cynic eh, Trippledence? What really grinds my gears is the amount of people who say "I didn't vote because my vote wouldn't have made any difference". Most of my family are like that - I know at least 10 people who have views on the preferred outcome who wasted their opportunity.
As for people who were working - you guys must put in some crazy hours. I'm not sure of the opening times of the stations, but they were open well before I left for work in the morning (7am opening or something?) and didn't shut until long after I got home (10pm, I think)
Students not voting because they're students and "nobody cares about us"? What about when you're no longer a student in 2 or 3 years or whatever?
I still subscribe to the idea of the democratic right not to vote - admittedly, some people are too lazy to vote - but it's still a valid choice IMHO. For the next election I would've voted to get our current MP out but as he's standing down that motivation has gone.
I'll need some convincing between now and then that there is something to choose between the parties but currently I'm highly disillusioned with the lot of them. My hope is for more independent (and by that I mean truly independents) to start running for government.
I did.. although after I get in from work it was around 9:30pm... I'm glad these places open late (and it's not far from a chippy with nice Spring Rolls as well )
Me and my wife didn't vote as we still havn't received our voting cards! My mother in law didn't receive hers either and she lives 2 doors down. We are all on the electoral register so go figure!
Thank you. An apathetic electorate is the governments friend, nothing changes under the sun whilst the voting public stay in their homes complaining that there's no reason to vote, we're at the end of democracy, I can't change anything so why bother... The chat of a victim.
What we share with everyone is glum, and dark...
