Could it be that all these lazy student types are actually having to do something now that exam season is upon us?
Steve B hasn't been contributing his random thoughts recently. I miss them

Aye, Steve is busy with a few projects... think he's finished his Simon game
Its how a forum should be nothing better than a heated debate imo.
Sure beats having a load of useless crap clogging the place up.
I like it loadsa cool things to talk about, and a room for everything, cant go wrong
Hexus has always been quite laid back though, so the upturn in 'heated debate' is a bit surprising, and for me not exactly welcome. And someone get Steve B back here now!

whats a public discussion forum without the odd disagreement?
Looking back seeing a few people banned for having that kind of attitude, obviously theres more to it, but whats to gain if its full of happy clappy rubbish that means nothing?
What i like about a forum is you get something out of it, here there is opinion and knowledge, which i better than poor humour and pointless ramblings
It was CV's yesterday though... that was fun!
But there's nothing like a good bit of pointlessness (which is what GD is for) to lighten your day once in a while.
Also, I see you haven't been here long, so can't really embrace what HEXUS has been about for going on 7 years now. It wouldn't be HEXUS without the 12 days of HEXMAS, the hexus crossword, poll of polls and other such ramblings. It's what makes it different, and it's why i love it.
If you don't like what's discussed in GD then there are plenty of other "serious" forums on here to discuss proper stuff with knowledge etc, leave GD and its uniqueness alone! (i would like to point out that this is not aimed at anybody, but my general opinion about people who whinge about what happens in GD)
I get loads out of GD - Without it I wouldn't have the friends I do. So in that case, it's not pointless.

I love opinions and knowledge, but there has been a surge in arguements that didn't need to happen and some (mild) flaming. That is not really hexus! (still constipated)

I think a lot of it is due to misunderstanding - the written word can be 'read' so many ways and often people come across as though they have a chip on their shoulder when they probably never intended it. Of course some do, but that's life
Personally i'm pretty light-hearted about the whole thing - it's just a forum after all - and the range of ages on here really shows in the variance of posting styles. We've all got something to bring to the table - I guess in a perfect World some of us wouldn't break the legs of said table when putting it down
I have to say that i can't say that recently there has been any more tension that what occured in the past. I can remember a fair few "battles" i've been involved in both current and present.
But where Hexus is different most people will agree to disagree, very rarely does it go so far that people have to be moderated.
Adajant vs Jamin etc in the Fibre cable etc is what i'm assuming that Menthel is going on about, but they both are pretty much agreeing on the same point and i have to admit its been a very interesting discussion.
The boxing thread between Sim and Bazzlad is also very interesting.
You've got to remember reading things you can take discussion very differently. Just remember not to post with anger

I agree with that to an extent, but at the same time alot of these silly threads are shot down pretty early on, mainly because they are posted by someone with a post count under 50. I feel some of the 'older' members look down on the newer members and so think they have to right to be all out rude to them.
(obviously just my opinion)
Thats always common though, people who feel they are more at home in a place like hexus to look down, happens on every forum imo.
I don't get why you would want silly threads, i cant think of any off the top of my head however i do know what kind your talking about i think, and they just seem a waste of space.
Imo true satisfaction and amusement cannot be had from an online forum, thats what real life is for after all.. maybe some of you want threads that start with a random word and go on for twenty five pages as funny. i class it as a waste of time tbh

Yeah agreed, it does happen on every forum, I guess I just notice it here more because I've been here quite a while and have seen how it has changed.
I don't so much want the silly threads, but at the same time I'm not against them. I just don't really like the "YOU WASTED X SECONDS OF MY LIFE" responses, it's quite clear when something is serious or not and its not like anyone is forced to follow every link.
I try to add humour to all my threads whilst trying to stay on topic... Lets just say I usually don't get much of a response back on Hexus, unless its in General Discussion... Then after a couple of hours a mod usually will lock the thread anyway because its gone OT
and why does a sad face no longer look that sad???? : (
