OK, so 3.50/5.50 you can forget buying a porker or fezza and instead buy a lambo!

You're forgetting inflation and that the government keep slapping tax on them too! They're around £4.70 a packet at the moment for B&H so it'll probably cost a lot more the £100,000 for us over 40 years.Originally Posted by dgr

Right, I'm gonna make this my last packet then I'll stop. Who's with me? Who's actually gonna post their progress here?
Still a big maybe from me! I'll keep note of your progress, chap... who knows? You might inspire me to give up a little. You've made me consider it at least a little more, already![]()
Right. B&H is £3.70ish a packet at the moment. If you take the 4% inflation each year and smoke 40 a day over 40 years from now (providing you live that long) that works out as an astonishing £325,000. It would cost less to hire a hit man!!
Even if you only smoke 20 a day that's still £162,000! Blimey, and I moan that I'm skint!!![]()
That's just the financial side of view!
i'm done now. no ciggies for me again. i worked out i've spent roughly £7k on em, and i'm only 18! best of luck to everyone else who's quitting. peace.

I am supporting you, mostly Big_Al though. Do you know how cold one can get waiting for him to finish a fag!

hurry up and quit then.....!

I quit a couple years back, just went from ~15 a day to 0 straight away.
Will power is better than any of the quitting aid IMHO.
The best way to give up, if cold turkey doesnt work is to cut down by one every week or even every day if u can manage it. It worked for me, its like weening yourself off it slowly
I tried to stop on new year's day....I lasted about 18 hours. I figure the only way for me to stop smoking is to completely stop drinking. It doesn't help that my best friend is a 30 a day man, and is always dragging me to the pub. The thing is with me that I get to dislike smoking so much that I can easily stop for a day or two, but then I get cravings so bad that I smoke one, and enjoy it immensely.
TBH I really am thinking of stopping drinking, if that's what it takes....although I onlywant to stop because of the cost, smell and long term health effects; I don't smoke enough for it to make me unfit. I reckon eventually I'll start hating it enough that I'll be able to make it through the cravings.

Okay, I'll play too, then. Last pack of cigs - 9 left.
