Well I stopped smoking on the 16th, have not had a smoke at all since, I was on about 20 a day for the last four years, I have promised I am going to put half the money I would have spent to the side and then buy treats as I get past a month, I used to get most of mine from Europe as I travelled alot, its very easy to give up when you are away from home, but at home its truely hell and when PHP is doing your head in like it has been doing mine lately all you want to do is strike one up and get on with it.

I work in a high stress IT dept, every single employee smoked, but now out of four its down to two, and one of them wants to quit. The worst thing is coming up, a trip skiing for the weekend then munich with work, loads of partying and stuff and thats gonna be HARD

Stick with it though folks, if you really need patches then makro has them on offer and so does boots, but a four week supply I worked out would cost 53 quid, still a 50 quid saving over buying smokes in Europe and a staggering 100 quid for a month if they were bough in the UK given how much I smoked......

Feel better now, I don't drink and I don't smoke so maybe I am the most bored 24 year old out there LOL only got a few vices left LOL

Its the gym next as like my work colleague you tend to eat way more when you don't smoke all because you try to substitute the cravings...

Good Luck to all and I hope we can help each other get through this....just you wait till you startdreaming you are smoking, scared the &*&* outta me lol

Ok folks, I was away until today on holidays and have stopped smoking this morning, not had any cravings yet but then it is still early. Am using Nocorette inhaler as I did the last time, wish me luck.

Good luck Blub2k! And well done m@ttz!

It's been 2 weeks and 3 days for me now, still not getting any real cravings... despite going to a party on Saturday!

I am finding that I'm eating a little more than usual though, need to cut down big time!

Dont worry about eating more, a bout of temporary obesity is a lot safer than continued smoking.

Got through lunch without the mandatory "after" tab and the stick is still doing it's job.

I gave up smoking some years ago, when my wife was pregnant. I found the best way was just to give up completely (not 'cut down').

I also had a tin into which I put the money I would have spent on fags as I was saving up for something at the time. It gave me a reason not to smoke, and it was amazing how quickly the money mounted up!

Good luck to all with this, I have never ever regretted giving up!

That's how my Dad packed up, after nearly 40 years of smoking! Respect due to the fella for that!

I have given up completely before, albeit for 1 or 2 months... lets just hope I can last longer this time!

Well look at it positively - that's one or two months without smoking each time, so that's gotta be better than not trying! In this case, trying and failing IS better than not trying at all...

Keep it up guys, you're doing great

Barry and I are *thinking* about it, but I know myself if he didn't stop at the same time as me I wouldn't be able to as our pc's sit right next to each other.

Well done again, and for those that didn't succeed this time keep at it, you'll get there

Still off them today, didn't have any tabs last night despite having mates over who were smoking, I just kept sucking on my nicorette stick, will do the job until the habit is broken.
