Violence and Lubrication is the solution to fixing everything, if it still doesn't work, you need more lubrication.

^Ah yeah, I remember watching Salem's Lot with a mate when I was younger. The scene with Barlow in the jail - the minute he pops up out of the mist one of the curtains in the room blew inwards and scared the bejeezus out of us! He looked scary, in the book he's more like Dracula (a thinking rather than just a killing machine) but they definitely made him/it a monster to remember!

Between me and our kid :

Alex from Clockwork Orange - totally amoral, and THAT is very scary, plus the fact he is the hero and you like him !

Then, the bad guy in Cape Fear (remake, De Niro), Alien, the Blair Witch, Kurgen, The Fly, Sam Neill at the end of Event Horizon (gave me nightmares anyway !), Velociraptors, American Werewolf.

The Clown...though I used to be scared of ET so my opinion shouldn't really count.

The jail bit gave me the heebie jeebies when I first saw it.

I was about twelve and was watching the first showing of it, over two nights, on BBC One here in the UK (1982/3 ?).

His hand brushes the cell door open, the guy inside takes a look, and then he appears with his pale white face and episode one ended. Closest I've ever been to genuinely pissing my pants in fear
