Since my pancreas is shot to pieces I often have extended reading time.
So at the moment there is Nelson Mandelas autobiography,
Touchin From A Distance(biography of Ian Curtis),
    Long Way Round(Ewan Mcgregor),
    Margrave of The Marshes(John Peel),
Stories We Could Tell(Tony Parsons) and a couple of half finished Times crosswords.
By the time I have finished reading the books I will have to start again as I will have forgotten how they started.

    class...pure class, especially when either

    A) you're in someone's house and can hear the people in the dining room, therefore they can hear you
    B) the water in the public toilet looks so gross, that you're worried that IF you pinch a loaf, and it hits the water sideways-on, the rank bowl water will splash back up, endagering you to a splashed arse, OR worse....much worse....the critical moment of your ring closing coincides with a drop of putrified water going right up there, and it becoming trapped within your own ring.
    C) the water level is so low that no matter how non-sticky you produce it, it's gona stick...and there aint no brush to scrub with
    D) you wanna take a photo of the resulting log, and you'll get a better shot if it's framed against a pure white background, or classier still, against a rose pink sheet, bordered with a pale powder blue, cos you're planning this photo, and have twin tone loo rolls to use for effect.

I do not read in the bog. In, and out. Life's too short.

But you do read elsewhere? What's the difference? If life's too short, surely the valuable seconds spent reading while multitasking your way through a number two are seconds you would have to waste elsewhere doing just one thing at a time.

I have no explanation as to why this thread is so enthralling....I feel disturbed...

    /passes him yesterdays newspaper....

To Read, or to Wipe....that IS the question.

Whether tis nobler on the rump, to suffer the print and staples of outrageous tabloids,
or to take novels, against an hour of squeezing
and by opposing, learn from them
    To read, to relax
No more, and by relax we mean to read
The boredom of a thousand hours
That bowels are heir to, tis a constipation

    anyone care to continue ?

Whats the point of having a poo if you aint going to read?

Usually I'll read the paper, but I have A Short history of Nearly Everything (because its a good book to just open on a random page and read) and a mahoosive WWII book, that weighs as much as a person, that I put on the floor and flick through during a major pooing session.

Like some one else mentioned, I tend to end up reading the labels on the missus's shampoo bottles... Though more recently I have taken to calling my family, I don't call them enough so figured I could take advantage of this down time to drop them a line.

... And was it Moby-Dick who mentioned 'rafting to prevent Neptune's kiss'? Bloody superb, not heard that before...

That sounds like a friend of mine. He usually as a WWII book of some description in his loo. There was a Churchill quotes book there for a while too.

I was thinking about this while at work this afternoon (oh dear lord i need help if this is the kind of thing i think about while working!). I think i would read while on the job if i had a nicer room to sit in. My tiny 3 or 4sqm toilet and shower room isn't the most conducive to reading in.

I read the local paper, the Garden News and whatever books are lying around in the bathroom that Dakky and the girls leave in there. Tis one of the few times you get left to get on with it, with the added bonus that you can lock the door and the family can't come in to pester you!

I usually read what's already in the washroom or take something with me. I stay for around 10 minutes when with reading materials.
