I once heard something about how if two twins existed and on boarded a space ship and traveled at the speed of light for a 4 year round trip, the twin on the space ship would have aged 4 years while the twin on earth would have aged over 30 years.
Now if this is true, this leads me to believe that time is relative/subjective and not absolute/objective, so is time applicable in any way to anything above and beyond my personal experience?

Id have to say I think no. But im not a Quantum Physics expertthere is plenty of them round here to answer why yes or why not.

All I know is, the older I get then the quicker it seems to go. Except during advert breaks on Sky. All I can do is offer a subjective opinion, I don't know enough about science to comment further.

As for being "above and beyond my personal experience" that's a tricky one and I'll need to get some coffee into my system before thinking about it because I think there are a few ways to look at it. It's a good question.

Time is a purley relative thing to a frame a refrence. Time dilation is something that is experimentally true, the best example is a meuon (maybe another particle I can't remember) is formed in the atmosphere and travels to the earth surface. Now if we were to take the absolute time rest time it would take this particle to dissipate and look at the speed of the particle, the particle should infact not reach the earths surface, the reason it does though is because it is going so fast that is under going relatistic effects and time is effectly slowed down for that paritcle with respect to the earth.
So yeah, relativity...
I thought it was to do with gravity? Time goes much slower nearer a black hole for example.

I think there's two types of time dilation - one is due to gravity, the other is due to velocity.

When you're 3 years old, driving to holiday in the car for 3 hours, seems an eternity. 3 hours as a proportion of your three years is quite a large percentage.
When you're 25, 3 hours in a car, seems irrelevent. 3 hours as a percentage of 25 years is a drop in the ocean.
