Hotel in Paris...

... 3/4 star, 2 nights in september... any recommendations?

There seem to be oodles of them and oodles of websites allowing you to book online... and most of them look great, but I was wondering if any hexites had stayed at any particular hotel in Paris (want to be fairly central so we can see the sights, but the metro is pretty good for getting about so its no biggy)... I stayed in paris last summer for a few nights, but that was in a hostel, and would like to treat the girlfriend to something slightly classier

Oh and anyone who's travelled by Eurostar, whats the 'Leisure Select' tariff like, whats thrown in? food / drinks? or is it just bigger seats? Eurostar says:

They'll serve us champagne and a meal, but is that included in the price is my question

    Thanks

    Re: Hotel in Paris...

It's nothing special, but it's very central (about five minutes walk from the Arc de Triomphe) and pleasant enough. The Royal Garden Saint Honore....can't remember the rate, but compare whatever price you get online with DialAFlight, as they're usually pretty competative....I think a double was in the £120 a night range, maybe cheaper...

    Re: Hotel in Paris...

The next time I go to Paris I want to stay on the Ile St Louis. It's right in the city but really quiet, with a few cool little shops. There are three or four hotels there - the one I can remember is the Hotel de Jeu de Paume, which translates as the Squash Hotel, as the building is an old squash court...

    Re: Hotel in Paris...

Cool, I've got the day off tomorrow so I'll spend some time looking into it all tomorrow, want to keep it <£500 for the 3 days, which should be quite possible, I suppose a 2/3 star hotel won't really matter if we're eating out every meal Thanks guys

We stayed at a Holiday Inn at Vélizy (http://www.holidayinn-parisvelizy.com/)

It was very nice indeed and we'd certainly go back.

    Re: Hotel in Paris...

Gah! I've been to one in the Gothic Quarter - if only I could remember the name...

I'd highly reccommend anywhere in the Gothic Quarter though: they all seemed cheaper than the other areas and full of character. Enjoy

    Re: Hotel in Paris...

I like the Peyris (Google "Peyris Paris"). It's close to the Gare du nord and nicely located in the 9th arrondisement. For fitter tourists it's easy to walk to the Grands Magasins and the Louvre/Palais Royale. When I worked in Paris I stayed in the Peyris for about 3 weeks and found the level about perfect, not too pricey for a 3-star and quite comfy. It is a living area, rather than too touristy and it's also in a pretty good area for eating and the Folies Bergeres is just along the street (my dog loved the smell from the stage door of the Folies Bergeres).

    Re: Hotel in Paris...

Not too far back, I spent a few nights at Le Brebant, at 32, Boulevard Poissonnière. Pretty much bang in the middle, with a good little crepe place on the corner.

No complaints at all, got it as a train/hotel bundle from Eurostar.

I know the Brebant. It's just round the corner from the Peyris. Literally 1 minute's walk.

    Re: Hotel in Paris...

We went last month and stayed in the Hotel Concorde Saint-Lazare. Would highly recommend it.

Pretty central and has a train station right next door.

    http://www.concordestlazare-paris.com/en/

Went by Eurostar leisure select. Booked it all as a package via the Eurostar website. The meal and champagne is included in the price of the leisure select tickets.
