Stoo, Wi-five my good man
nice with the hifi thing. though the screen problem sounds like a bad contact somewhere maybe a connector not in properly (I say that becuase I just had the same thing on my phone )
Im repairing my phone, and it works! maybe cheating a little since ive done electroniics at college and good at soldering... but I am amazed how much abuse modern electronics can take!
Its 3 years old and had the screws melted out after a few months (it was only £35 to start with and had a small problem with bad contacts for the sim card).
Last week (19th aug) I accidently dropped (threw) it over a barrier at a metal festival (bloodstock) when trying to record a band, and a steward passed it back to me without the battery cover and some other plastic. BUT it still worked fine but needed to be held together - one more clip had broken as well as the sim problem came back.
yesterday I decided to repair it (for fun very unlikely to use it, although I am definatly going to try replacing the case so that it does not look tacky or cheap, it will look like new*..). Im going to buy a samsung d900i anyway, this can be a spare to keep in car...
Going to cut a peice of acrylic to the correct size, glue it together (hot glue, can be shaped very easly) then sprayed blue. Also need new buttons for the front..
I took all the bits out of the casing and threw casing away. This meant i had many parts (speaker, mic, motor, 2nd speaker, simcard, dc socket, antenna, and also battery) that were usually pushed to the pcb by the casing/spring contacts, that had to be soldered and glued on becuase they are no longer part of the case.
heres a 11mb video of the current state.... and those are the only original parts to be re-used... wanted to play with my camera not the one on the phone but that does also work!

Thought I would add that its also quite a bit smaller now. Will be about 4mm saved in thickness and 2mm from each side, nowhere near as small as others though...
