The little things in life that make you strangely pleased

After a mildly surreal convo with Honoop we came to the conclusion that there are some things in life that make a big difference to how you feel.

One of my favourites is the first time you use a new toothbrush, Honoop chipped in with the feeling of getting into a freshly made bed, particularly post bath.

So what little things make you absurdly pleased? (careful now)

Yeah, the bath - bed thing.

At the moment, for me its the smell of paint. Well, more than that, the whole decorating thing. Walking into the flat, half finished, and the smell of paint, the slap of wallpaper paste, the radio on, cups of tea every 8 minutes, etc.

    All good.

And summer nights, I've just made a thread, no less!

Fire is good. Either in the open or in a fireplace. That and the smell of freshly roasted marshmellows.

Hows about a freshly made bed with sheets that have just come out of the dryer on a cold winters day?

That freshly cut grass smell when you walk outside on a summer morning/afternoon with the sun shining. just feels like summer properly when that happens, walk to the car with a smile (bike when i was a kid) winding down the window in the sun, music on, wave to the neighbours washing their cars, painting garage doors, etc..

Anyone know what i mean? probably not. I'm not mad, honest. haha

    Not exactly a shocker but:

First beer on a Friday. Now that makes me SMILE...

Totally agree with the clean sheets and freshly cut grass... How about:

The smell of burgers cooking on a BBQ...

Oh and being next to water... I can't even swim and I still love to be by the sea (in just about any weather) or strolling along the banks of a river in the sunshine.

We should have a "The little things in life that make you strangely uncomfortable" thread too... Like sitting on a toilet only to find that it's still warm from it's last user...
