Re: Just got my MDA VARIO III (HTC KAISER)

The N95 can't 1/1000th of what a Kaiser can do. Symbian is the Fisher Price of operating systems, there is virtually zero decent 3rd party software development any more. Out of the box, the N95 is better in some area's, but ultimately the N95 is a fancy toy, the Kaiser is a series piece of mobile equipment.

I've tried to like my N95, but in the end even my Vario 1 was better - way more software, better battery life, UI, better WiFi, better for email/internet, better everything bar a 5MP camera which is vastly overrated anyway. Oh, and the GPS in the N95 is seriously bellow par too. 5+ Minutes for a lock? No thanks!

Re: Just got my MDA VARIO III (HTC KAISER)

Having had Nokia phones for years and then just recently getting a Samsung D900, I would never go back to Nokia ever again. I really love my D900, best phone I've ever had. I think Nokia phones went down hill from the 6630 onwards.

I still have here a Nokia 6280 that I was using when I was on 3, for the first few months the phone was great, but it soon dawned on me it was quite a bit pants, shocking battery life the charger only last 6 months and the same with the battery, I've got about 4 spare batteries for it, and it ate them too !!

Re: Just got my MDA VARIO III (HTC KAISER)

I'm a pretty loyal (Sony)Ericsson user. Had a GA628 back in '98, then my only Nokia which was a 7110. After that was a Siemens SL45, then the SE T610, K750 and now a P990.

All of this was on O2 through a few different numbers.

It will be a little odd to abandon SE and O2 when i get my Kaiser on T-Mobile, but there just isn't anything else i really want in the market, and T-Mobile are spanking everyone else as for as 3G data is concerned. T-Mobile even have an agreement in Angola where my parents are, so thats anoher nail in the coffin for O2 as far as i'm concerned (Not a huge point but will be nice to use my phone there when i visit them).

Oh, and Bazzlad, in case you haven't already discovered them, XDA Developers is a massive resource for all HTC hnd sets. There is a mountain of software, tweaks and add-ons out there to try on WM6 devices. I had a WinCE iPaq a few years ago, but WM6 devices really are little computers.

Re: Just got my MDA VARIO III (HTC KAISER)

I would be up for that. The XDA Devs forum is good, but you do get kind of swamped with info. Give me a couple of months to get out of my O2 contract and shift my number across and i'll join you with the Kaiser

What contract do you have btw?

I've been known to code some very stupid apps for the WM smart phone, i'd post them up there if someone else would maintain em.

Not something i could do, I am a diabolical programer. I do however like the sound of "very stupid apps" for WM devices

I do think we could do with a Windows Mobile Section because you're right - XDA developers is too much at times. Cool Smart Phone used to be good, but not anymore.

I'm on an 18 month Flex 35 with Web + Walk (It should have cost about £100 for the phone on top of that contract, but know people so got it free)

Re: Just got my MDA VARIO III (HTC KAISER)

that sounds like a good deal

It's a shame Web'n'Walk Max is soooo expensive! I could probably make use of Skype on the move. "Flext 25 + web'n'walk Plus (18 months)" is probably the right compromise though. £32.50/month and £139.99 for the handset at the moment, but iwould expect that to be a bit less by the start of the year when i'm out of contract

Re: Just got my MDA VARIO III (HTC KAISER)

18 months is the way the entire industry is going - so get used to it!
If you get the plans on 12 months, you get half the amount of minutes and texts, so for an extra 6 months it's worth going longer - and with the kaiser you're not going to need an upgrade for a while!

If you wanted the phone now one of the companies I work for could do you the same deal but with the phone costing £90 instead of £139.99.

So PM when you want to upgrade and I'll let you know what deal I can get you

(It's good having friends in high places )
