I'm aware Ikonia, that you aren't on here for my entertainment, but you often say what I'm thinking but you always JUST beat me to it. LOL!

Onto the original topic, as brilliant as it would be for an ATM to dispense change as well as notes you have to think of the practical aspect of this, how often do you see public machines with change available? I haven't, not only that, imagine some awkward bean head taking yonks at the ATM so he can withdraw the princely some of £4.37 for example, its just ludicrous and in light of this, I'm thankful that ATMs do not dispense change and in many cases £5 notes.

If you want to pay the exact amount use your ATM/switch card at the till with PIN or write a cheque.

they're being completely withdrawn from some supermarkets - our local sainsburys is stopping all cheque transactions fr'example

I've seen loas of petrol stations that don't take them, I don't think Boots do either.

No change can be taken out or £5 notes. Only works in £10's

The machine inside my uni (no charge one) does £5's

There is only one machine in my whole town that does fivers, the last in a row of four inside lloyds tsb. It's strange, since it is not marked in any way to show this (you even have to hit "other amount" to get a fiver out, theres no denominations of 5 listed in the defaults), and the machine is identical to the 3 next to it in all other ways.

Which is the reason I like to take mine with me when I go to the supermarket. I then pretend to have learning difficulties and get out my cheque book, start to write, then poke my tongue out, gurn a bit, then turn to the waiting queue and say, "sorry I wrote the number down wrongly". As they all piss off to the adjoining tills I whip out the Switch card and pay. It is telling, especially if you have a couple of friends who later come along and add things to the trolley and pretend to look after you.

The worst is people looking for their coupons for 10p off, blah blah blah (which is a new soap powder I have invented).
