Re: Get paid for doing surveys...Worth it??

I've tried a few of the survey taking sites and put simply - yes, you will earn a bit of spare cash, but it's nothing at all compared to "proper" work. Most survey sites will give you a few surveys a week that will only pay a small amount (2 quid tops), those that pay more will be a lot less frequent.

To be honest, just getting a job will pay you more.

BUT.. if you want to earn a bit of extra cash - try doing a bit of poker? It's good fun, the payoff can be pretty big, and provided you're not stupid (ie betting all your winnings in one go) you can make a fair amount from it - if you're good. Say, you win 100 quid a week, put 50 aside and keep playing with the other 50. Obviously it's unlikely that you'll get that much when you start out, but it's a lot better return (even with small pots) than survey taking!

EDIT: And yes, poker aside - gambling probably isn't the best way to do it Especially if you're a uni student!

If you want some information about a flexible, legal and lucrative way of earning extra money that will fit in around your studies then send me a PM and I'll tell you about it.
I'm not going to put anything on here as it probably would contravene the boards rules on advertising or something.

Whatever you do don't take Whiternoise's advice and try gambling. Online poker? You must be joking.

I think your earlier quest for easy cash thread pretty much answers all the time wasting "workfromhome4cash.com" style sites.

Just get a part time job in say mcdonalds, currys, somewhere like most other students.

Accept it - and get a job

Hehe seems you've already tried that one as well

But again, getting a job seems to be the consensus - i work in GAME for about 20 hours a week and i'm making about 400 a month without it having much of an effect on my college hours (20).

I'm with ikonia on this one, nothing beats a part time job!
I'm quite lucky as my friend at uni works for the graduate recruitment department of The Times as his part time job, so I get all his surveys, and make £10 an hour

I agree about the part time job - but in your own interest, try and get something that fits with your course of study - that way, you may just find yourself with the extra line on your CV that makes you stand out from the crowd when you come to look for a full-time job.
In particular, I'd recommend finding any business in your area that has anything relevant to offer, and write to their HR dept. You may have to write a lot of letters, but that's just what 'real world' jobhunting is like - so better start getting used to it....

Re: Get paid for doing surveys...Worth it??

I occasionaly do the surveys when I am absolutely smashed after a night out, nothing else to do , you get practically nothing either, like a couple of quid for 45 mins work etc

I work part time and it doesn't get in the way of uni, you just have to be able to prioritise your time well

I have so many Uni mates that use poker to earn money but I really do not advise it. Just get a job like a normal person

Re: Get paid for doing surveys...Worth it??

Working in a Uni bar is sometimes a good option, dont have to really travel far for work + you meet a lot of new people (girls ) Also they will understand when you cant work extra hours etc...due to high uni work load.

Blunt, but perfectly justified, you want money, get a job and earn some.

    What about Ciao ?

I've had 70 quid off these for writing a few reviews which got good imprints and also quite a bit of this was for surveys.

Get the impression some of u think i cant be assed to work... I have had a part time job since i was 16 with maybe 1 month break in those 6 years. I have carriedmyself through 3 years of uni already working part-time but now i want to try soemthing different.

So please dont act as if you've been there and have slogged away for 40 years doing a boring job and that everyone has to do it, and dont try find an easy way out etc. little annoying. I asked for suggestions which some of you have given.

Why tell me to get a job at mcdonalds? u dont think i had thought of that?

There are no different options to earn money, you do a job, you get paid. Your a student and thats not a slur, but your options are limited due to your study requirments.

So please dont act as if you've been there and have slogged away for 40 years doing a boring job and that everyone has to do it, and dont try find an easy way out etc.
You come across as trying to find an easy way out of working, in this post and your other one.

You appear to have a slight issue with people telling you want to do as you feel above them because they have one GCSE. The sad fact is this is something you'll have to get used to in your working career as some of the higher placed people in any career will undoubtable have fewer qualifications, or in some cases experience, but at the end of the day they are your boss/supirior in the work place, so the sooner you start accepting that and dealing with it, the easier you'll find it. Go to Mcdonalds work there, let the 16 year old 1 GCSE order you about and smile thinking, "this pays for my study I'll be out soon, this is YOUR life though" Knowing the job is a means to end should make it easier.

Why tell me to get a job at mcdonalds? u dont think i had thought of that?
I'm sure you have but you don't want to accept that this sort of job for a student is the best way to earn money. Just as a side issue, you may want to think about online gambling and how it can effect your career in future, it may not be relevant but security checks/clearance can well be failed because you played poker, more so at key times such as university. Just food for thought.
    It is Inevitable.....
