    Re: Your Top Hangover Cures

After several years of practice, I finally realised that I enjoyed myself more if I didn't get totally rat-arsed every time I went into a pub...(cheaper too!)...

    Bazzlad's 100% Guaranteed hangover cures.

    Preparation
    1) Buy bananas, and peanut butter, and a bottle of coke.
    2) Before you go out set 1 paracetamol and a pint glass by your bed. Open the coke and don't drink it.

    Method.
    Get drunk.
    Eat pizza.
    Go home.
    -----------
On arrival take the 1 paracetamol and drink 2 pints of water.
    -----------
    Go to sleep
    -----------
    Wake up in the morning
    -----------
Drink 1 pint of water - take a paracetamol.
Make a peanut butter and banana sandwich (or eat seperately if that sounds like too much)
    Drink the flat Coke.

    Job done.

    Here's the science bit. Concentrate.

Bananas are an excellent source of potassium (second only to the avocado) with over 450 mg. per one banana serving, as well as being high in magnesium, which can help relax those pounding blood vessels causing that nasty hangover headache.

Peanut butter - Something in your stomach is good, and salty is even better. Plus you get a Vitamin B top up.

Dioralyte (rehydration salts consisting of sugars and salts (glucose, sodium chloride, potassium chloride and disodium hydrogen citrate). They are used to replace body fluids lost as a result of acute diarrhoea.

Flat Coke works like it because has enough salt and sugar in it. And it does taste a bit better than dioralyte.

Trust me - this stuff works

I saw Within Temptation last night in London... my head hurts bad today!!!

My advice is to right off the day after drinking and don't do anything but lay in bed and watch tv! Man I wish I was in bed now rather than at work.... urrhrghgh

I tend to stock up on Avobath or Jingle Spells bath bombs from Lush - they are expensive but they really work!!!

Also, eat beans before bed - baked beans I mean and try and have a couple of pints of water...

2 Sausages cooked and sliced into 1/2 so they stay on the bread better
2 slices of bacon - smoked or maple cured if you've got it, normal bacon if not.
    jalepeno chillies.
Cover with cheese - Extra Mature Cheddar, not none of this weak stuff. If it has crystals, it is GOOD and whack under the grill until the cheese has melted.

Add the second piece of bread to the sandwich, press it down and cut into whatever shapes you want.

Now eat, drink a large cup of coffee (medium strength - 2 sugars) and wait 45 minutes for the food to do it's work
    sod hangovers...I'm trying that anyway

    you've got great taste chap

This cured the worst hangover of my life -
    get 1 pint glass
add approx half pint lemonade (pref. old fashioned)
mix in a teaspoon of set honey
top up with cold stella artois

Half an hour later you can stomach that greasy breakfast you know you need.

Agree with this totally! Oblivion has got to be the single most effective hangover cure! Unfortunately though the walk back takes you near Hex which has the power to completely undo all the good Oblivion just did... Not nice!

Before hangover time, I'd start with 2 pints of water before bed. It's always a good idea to start off protecting yourself against dehydration. However drunk and tired you are, if you get into the habit of forcing yourself to do this, you'll feel a whole lot better for it.

Occasionally though that's not enough, so my cures would be to consume some or all of the following:
Lucozade Sport Orange (the rest just ming)
    Tea with sugar
Tonic Water (maybe mixed with up-to an equal amount of Orange Juice)
    Tomato Juice/V8
Bacon, Sausage, Egg, Beans, Toast with real butter
    Toast & Marmite

Start off with drinks containing salts/sugars first, give that about 30 mins to an hour before eating anything. Then eat a lot in one shot and go relax somewhere and drink stuff with less salts/sugars as you go and wait about 30-60 mins for it to take effect.

    Re: Your Top Hangover Cures

Glass of water by the bed because I WILL wake up for a pee in the night and I WILL have a mouth like a badgers' behind when this happens.

Upon waking up for real, preferably as late as possible; drink more water followed by a good few cups of nice strong tea.

    **BRUSH TEETH**
Amazing how much better this makes you feel. Especially since all of my teeth will be wearing furry jackets beforehand.

For eats - bread! GOT to be uncut so I can slice it nice and thick and toast it or stick a few slices of grilled smoked bacon in the middle with some tomato ketchup. More tea/squash/water until it actually has an effect on my bladder rather than being absorbed by my body.

If I have to be up early it's usually because I need to be in London for some reason or another, so in this scenario I usually drag my ass out of bed and attempt to keep myself upright in the shower while washing off beer jacket. Drink water, take a bottle with me on train. Upon arriving at destination find Pret/Starbucks/Costa/Cafe Nero (you get the idea) - incidentally Cafe Nero is good because they always put a double shot in - order a mocha and some kind of muffin. Head to office/college and keep head down until coffee and muffin consumed and I'm able to string a sentence together, preferably while thinking at the same time! hehe!

    Re: Your Top Hangover Cures

Being to the wrong side of 30, i really suffer badly from hangovers. Hair of the dog is the nicest method; Guinness with Tia Maria is the best IMO. But if more booze and pub are out of the question i have some packets of this power that you add to a pint of water. Basically they for people who have had really bad Diarrhea and are extremely dehydrated. They are grim, but they really do the trick. Ibuprofen is best pain killer for a head ache as its an anti-inflammatory for you brain. Does not sound wonderful, but it does the trick for me. But Syndol is king if you have nothing to do but lounge on the sofa, as they will knock you out for an hour and you wake feeling a million times better.
