Yeah - 2 months pay - immediate dismissal.

Finding a job in this period is hard.

As a card carrying atheist I'll agree with the forgiving part, but have to say it is actually a blessing of a rational mind.

Unfortunately rationality isn't the de facto of society though.

    Re: Moral Dilema

Well, I'm leaving it for the time being. As people have pointed out, I shouldn't have the information so no one can reasonably expect me to act upon it in something that's such a small matter.

If it were something criminal or negligent, things might be different but over something like just being obnoxious, I'll let it pass.

Might be worth reminding people that their company e-mail is the property of the company though in a general e-mail. I'll have to chat to the MD in general terms and see what he wants to do.

Nor is forgiving, no matter who/whom/what you've been blessed by.

Yes, but unless something illegal is being done with it, or your company has a policy that using company email for personal use is an abuse then what they say to each other (again unless they are doing something that is specifically defined as not allowed by the company) has nothing to do with you.

From what I can make out from this thread your company has no rules regarding this situation, and all these two people have done is bad mouthed the boss and talked about quitting to each other. Pretty much standard going in any company with more than a handful of employees I'd say.

Thanks! I deserve a prize. It wouldn't be a moral dilemma if there was no possible immoral outcome though...

I don't think you can compare the forgiving nature of God with the boss (or any human). You can't expect them to behave like that

In business people are frequently lost causes - ie they would cost more to the company to keep than the money they make.

But Kezzer, I do respect your point of view - if there were more people like you the world would be a better place.

I don't though. I can and will complain to his face if I've got a problem, because quite frankly how can I expect him to make decisions about the company if he doesn't know what's going on.

If you tell the boss you might get promoted to Head Snitch - think of the pay rise!

    So true.

In sight of all of this though, the last place I worked at had no internal politics of any kind. We were a big team, and all worked together very nicely, and even after a year I found people were generally nicer and nicer to me, I'd get invited out for drinks, we'd take part in company events all the time etc.

I guess it's dependant on what company you work for. The one I worked for invested tens and tens of thousands of pounds into making sure employees were getting along just fine.

Yeah, but what did they say about you behind your back or indeed in emails you weren't privvy to?

I'm sure they wouldn't send you an e-mail asking you out for drinks if they were also sending e-mails saying I was an arsehole Unless they completely defy logic; "let's invite the guy out we really don't like."
