If your manager has asked you for 10 reasons why you and your colleagues should have a payrise, what sort of things would you put?

We're talking binary, right?
You don't need 10 reasons - just find another job that pays better, then threaten to leave unless your boss matches your new rate. This is the win-win scenario!
(If you can't find a better-paying job, you're probably not worth a pay rise anyway...)
When you are good at what you do, the rises automatically come.
He a poo manager if he has to ask why to justify it.
Personanally I'd use the following
1) My costs of living have increased, to be able to continue to afford to do this job I need to match the increase with an increase in income.
2) The company's profitability has increased over the past year, I have contributed to that therefore I am entitled to a share.
3) My workload and responsabilities have increased over the past year, since I am now doing more work, I am entitled to a reward for my efforts.
4) I've been offered work at another company for more money, however I do like working for you, increased pay will guarentee that I stay put.
Well, that's all I can think of for now!

This is bunny and friends. He is fed up waiting for everyone to help him out, and decided to help himself instead!
Your manager asked you 10 reasons, and you come and ask on a forum ....

Tell him your not going to bother with his stupid 10 reasons instead your going to get on with the job your paid for.

Thanks to Josh for your sensible post - ill add a couple of them to my coursework project.
must be i thought he was actualy in a situation where he/she needs to give his boss 10 reasons for a payrise
This to me would be a fob off because if they have to ask for reasons obviously you are not doing anything to stand out in the crowd hence they have to ask?

Good point, if my boss asked me this i'd tell him to go shove it. If he knew his job & therefore the worth of his employees, he's not have to ask such an inane question. I'd never ask any of my chaps to do it, I know their strengths & weaknesses well enough to judge who's worth what in my department.
