Ive always thought that Id only start to kick up a fuss after half 11 on a sunday night-thurs night so a traditional working week night, but on a friday or sat night then 12 or so.

11 is a tad early seeing as the pubs are still open.

Is this a weekly thing or just a one off?
If its just the one off, I'd just try to ignore it - we've all done it (or been at one)

reminds me of the guy next door this year in my student house. Really bad drum and bass at all hours of the day and night.

He wasn't going to shut up so I thought I'd fight fire with fire. I had louder speakers a bigger sub and better music for playing loud

If you can get a copy of tool's L.A.M.C from salival and stand it yourself, play that to them

Re: next door is haveing a party...

i once wrote a review for the girl upstairs and her fella, and pinned it to the door, based on the sounds i could hear from my room.

subsequently i wasn't kept up by the sounds of passion again

There was one particularly vocal girl in my hall at university. We got so fed up with it we taped it one night and played it back the following morning. She went a really good shade of red, for some reason.

Still, at least we got some peace and quiet after that.

Surely that's illegal? I tried video taping a girl too once, but was threatened with legal action when she found out

    Btw, I am kidding

Well, it's easy to threaten legal action, but much harder to take it. Or even mean that it's possible to do so.

Also, as far as I'm aware, no it wasn't illegal. Under what Act or provision do you think it was? These days, if it had been a phone conversation, then a whole series of issues arise, but it wasn't on the phone, and for that matter, there wasn't much conversation (unless squealing counts).

Also, I was in my own flat. How can there be any expectation of privacy when I could hear them from my own room ..... over my stereo.

Next, she knew who it was, and so did I, and so did the rest of my flatmates, but there was nothing identifiable on the tape to a stranger. Neither we, nor she, could actually have proven who it was a recording of.

Finally, even if it is illegal now (which I very much doubt), I'm going back a good few years (well, several decades, actually ).

Using pubs as a benchmark, up with us they are open to 00:00 and in many cases 01:00 at a weekend, 'clubs' are open until 02:00 or even 03:00.

If it's a handful over the past few years to me that isn't a problem. perhaps i'm more leanient than others though.

Depends how often it happens. Like has been said, we've all been to parties.

If it's every few weeks, it's a problem and you need to get environmental services involved, assuming you've already tried to have a quiet and non-shouty word with them about it.

Hey, maybe even try having a word with them during hangover time - you'll make more of an impression then
