Well, end of the world is a pretty big deal, hence people do tend to worry about such a thing when confronted with something that the vast majority of the human population do not understand in the slightest..........especially when we are trying to learn something from this "experiment", which goes to show that there are unknowns in play here.

When you consider how many scientists over the years have been killed by their experiments, you realise that humans have a proven track record for meddling in things they do not quite understand......and there are sometimes serious consequences to their actions..........and this experiment is on an entirely new scale.

Erm, no...it should be falling towards the ground at around 9.81 meters per second. I'd get that checked out if I were you.

My apologies. Accelerating towards the earth's centre of gravity at 9.81 meters per second per second. And that's assuming that the black hole hasn't, as yet, attained sufficient mass to rival the earth's.

I he can see the damn thing, then it probably already has. A black hole the mass of the Earth would have a diameter of about 1.5cm... So it'd be about the size of a hazelnut.

Black holes have been somewhat proven. Stars have been seen to be distorted in a fashion that might suggest that a black hole passed in front of them.

Also, everything in galaxies are being slowly pulled towards the center. This has been speculated to be due to supermassive black holes.

Precisely. Humans did not know what would happen when we first discovered plutonium, and I bet a few scientists/people died trying to find out.
