Well, not directly the cost of the wine, but the affect on the surrounding items of technology, principally my (until now) faultless Inspiron 6400.

Well, I don't know 100% whether its broken or not, but when I turn it on it boots but no display. No smash lines or anything, screen just doesn't seem to switch itself on. Why do I think this is going to be expensive?

Konan- it was indeed red, however I've already drunk the last bottle of white I had in the house

You'll never actually believe this, but it seems Gonzo may have been on to something.

A combination of an alcohol based spray on the contacts which seemed affected and leaving it upside down has revived it.

good to hear, just make sure you give is another good blast incase you miss anything as leftovers will corrode it in the long term

I've taken the keyboard off, stripped the casing around the hinges, but that's as far as I felt comfortable.

Gave it a concentrated spray in the areas I could see it had travelled to, but otherwise hopefully should be ok.

then whip it open and give it the once over you can also give the heatsink some TLC and bring the temps down while your in there remove that crappy tin pad and put some real paste in there!
