    Center Parcs - good holiday?

We have a typical family of four - 2 adults, 2 kids (9 & 7), and are thinking of booking a week at center parcs next July.

So a few questions to you all:

Would you recommend one village over another?
How much do all the extras cost (bike hire etc)?
How much is under cover (really important for a British Summer Holiday!)?

    Any other words of wisdom?

Just go to Butlins instead! Superb holidays there, Best to say in a Silver/Gold appartments, not rooms. Oh and the food aint bad if you want go for the breakfast and evening meal aswell.
Loads to do if the weather is a bit crappy.

    Yeah... Butlins....

Center Parcs will be great fun for the kids, no one village is particularly better than the others, go for the nearest (long car journeys are obviously to be avoided...) Bike hire is normally pretty reasonable, they've gone a little upmarket with some of the activities and eating out can get expensive if you do it every day, but as I said, the kids will love it, there's tons of things to do undercover and lots of great things for the adults to do too!

I've been to Center Parc practally every year for the last 10 and have always had a great time.

The wife and I took her god son and friend to Evelden Forest last month and it is getting a bit expensive, but the kids (and us) had a great time doing climbing, bowling, quad biking, sailing, swimming, bolwling and tennis.

I prefer Longleat to Sherwood and Elvelden, but they are all excellnet.

Let's turn the question around -

Has anyone had a negative experience at Center Parcs?

Re: Center Parcs - good holiday?

All jokes aside, when I was that age (a number of years ago) We spent some long weekends at the Elvedon Forest Centre Parcs and it was fantastic, especially as I used to rather enjoy cycling for longer periods of time - don't now, too lazy

Lots of things to do, and not a huge journey to get over for the adults, so you can relax more readily and enjoy the break. Probably doesn't stack up to the holidays I'm used to now, but at that age you are more interested in what there is to do than what the room or facilities are like.

Just make sure if you take any bikes with you, that you take a decent lock. When I went it wasn't unknown for staff members to use any bikes not chained up as a convenient form of transport.

I would probably take kids (if I ever find a woman who'll put up with me) to that type of resort while they are reasonably young. Little way off yet, thankfully

    Agreed!

I had fun at one when I was about 10. We tried two more the years following... and errr.. you grow out of them quickly.

Young kids will enjoy it though.. you probably won't lol

I'm a bit surprised to hear that - actually, in today's Britain maybe I'm not!
I'll take a lock if we go. Probably would only take kids' bikes with us and hire adult bikes there.

As told by a then employee we knew. I must admit, I'm hardly surprised either.
