PC Tool kit recommendations

Be aware there are PCs which don't use standard screws at all. I'm sure there's others, but (shudder) some Tiny PCs (before they folded multiple times) used a sort of 6-point star shaped one on their cases. Most standard tool kits won't have those screw bits, but I'd imagine any decent dedicated PC kit will.

Got this from (I think) Kustom PCs a year or 2 back, but they don't have it now. It certainly wasn't anywhere near £40 either, but perhaps I got it through work (no VAT). It's got everything I've ever needed, and more. Can't say the soldering iron is up to much, but then I never use them anyway. Not exactly pocket sized if that's what you're after though.

The 15cm phillips driver bit is a godsend.

I did look at that and sent that to my mate too. Looks a great toolkit.

Another thought. Is it possible to buy a tool roll where one could then choose thier own tools individually and then slot them in the tool roll?

Just add a USB memory stick with your favourite freeware applications and a couple of packs of spare screws and you're sorted.

I got a pack like that from CompUSA. Those tweezers and that little injection scooper thing is really useful for picking screws in hard to reach places.

I got a cheap ratcheting screwdriver from tesco with bits for that. It's useful if you've got hex screws too.

I found the most handy things that I have in my tool kit is, a magnifying glass to read the very small writing on MB's. A dentist mirror for looking around corners, mainly to put jumpers on hard drives. A clamp on torch.
long handled screwdriver with multi head changer. one of those retractable screw picker-upper things.

I got all this in my tool kit that was given to me free when I passed my comptia A+ exam.

A few of the newer HP machines use Torx too.

A small flat head screwdriver works though, it's all I use

They sound like Torx screws. The screwdriver kit I linked to contains the "tamperproof Torx" bits, which will work with the normal Torx screws, and also the nasty anti-tamper Torx screws that have a little pin in the middle of the screw head.

About the only thing that kit doesn't contain is a tri-wing bit, but I've only ever seen those screws on Nintendo kit... Hardly worth worrying about.
