why is it that you cant use anything other than a passport to get into royail mail??? i applied for a job and asked about it and they said a work permit is fine and a short birth cetificate, go fill out the form at home and i cant use a short BC and i think it says that i can use a work permit. Go down for a group type interview where half of them were from outside the uk and i got turned away from having a work permit not a Passport, how is a 16year old ment to have a passport unless their family goes on holiday abroad?.

This is more of a rant then anything cos foreigners can just get their passports grab a job and yet i cant because of that.

I think they changed it to stop immigrants without visas working

Remember a story at work where I was told Royal Mail told the staff this and 1/3 never showed up in one place on the day they were meant to have their passports

the foreigners were all filling out the 8 page form in the 5minutes, i was all prepared but no.... ageism i swear it is .

Well it's the only real proof of age/person at your age, if you were older you could argue a driving licence is just as valid.

my dad said to ring up connections about it, will try them in about 30mins but what other proof could i get from the gov apart from a long birth certificate and drivers etc?

i take it that you need a passport for the christmas jobs at royal mail then? because it doesn't bode well if you do - because i don't have a passport either.

Yeh stevie, was applying for that . My mate got the same times and stuff but he goes abroad to relatives alot so has a passport so got in, lucky bugger. But the most annoying thing is that i was on my dads passport for ages and he renewed it only a few months ago without me lol.

I'm sure to find out if any more jobs need passports - i'm mainly looking at the type that people outside the UK apply for - theres loads of them in southport too (its no wonder I've been unemployed for 7 years!)

But he waouldn;t have been able to renew it with you anyway.
All children need to have there own passports now.
