    Merlin :-)

/Once again, Zak dares wander out into the streets, wearing nothing but a towel, and shouting something that he fully expects to get flamed for

I really like the new series of MERLIN on TV.

The first oe was...unusual, and seemed as though it missed the mark, but maybe it was ME who had missed the mark, because I stuck with it and it's really grown on me.

I like the cheekyness of the characters. Very little of the "art thou" rubbish. It's got a (oh I hate this word) "contempary" feel because most of the charaters really do sound normal.

The cast is very good, and now that I've seen a few I have grown to like Arthur and Gwen more. Merlin is equally likeable, particularly his complete lack of awareness to Gwen's attentions.

Uther is exceptional. really very very set in his ways, adamant and virtually unbendable, as most leader/rulers tend to be, right or wrong.

The grpahics improved too, the recent Griffin was not bad at all.

I think this is not bad at all, and I look forward to reruns... I MAY consider the DVD set actually.

    Re: Merlin :-)

    I love Merlin too

The cast has been cracking so far, well apart from Will Mellor playing a visit knight, I just expected him to start going into 2 pints of lager mode and ask Gwen to get her ladie bits out.

Apart from that I think it's pretty good and nicely building up into a cracking TV show.

For me though, Richard Wilson steals the show with his witty remarks and dodgy barnet

I have no idea what you chaps are speaking about.

Is it to do with these new fangled "moving picture boxes" one is supposed to have in the corner of ones drawing room?

Seconded. I don't have a TV... parents don't hold with these outlandish ideas.

I've been enjoying this series as well. Richard Wilson and Anthony Head are both really good I think. I also picked up on the quality of the Griffon's graphics last episode!

It's finding a home in my V+'s recording schedule, along with Eli Stone on SciFi. It's excellent fun.

    Re: Merlin :-)

It's certainly something enjoyable to watch, but I can't help but feel the names have been tacked onto it to try and sell the idea of the series, which is in effect "oh woe is me, I'm a misunderstood teenager with a hard life but look at the fun I can still have"

The part of me that's a RPG geek is screaming bloody murder at the thought of Merlin being reduced to a lanky teenager (given most legends place him as a) aging backwards through time and b) an old man when Arthur was young)

    Re: Merlin :-)

You mean that there's supposed to be bits of me that AREN'T RPG geek? Wow... the thought never occured.

And from what I've seen of this (having sneaked a look at a friends house by accident) I think that I'd probably hate the series. I don't like many of the things on TV... probably why I'm not too bothered about not having one.
