    Re: Kids, why?

It's sad really, quite a few of these kids tend to be kicked out of the house "out of the way" so the parents can pretend they're not actually parents, drop the responsibility and carry on as before etc.

Other times it's a case of simply nothing to do, with youth and night clubs being scarce outside cities. It's easy to condemn, but messing about is one of the few things a lot of em have - especially for those not into computers or games.

That said, there are some truly nasty pieces of work:

    Re: Kids, why?

When i was younger living with my parents we had a couple of breakins, a car stolen and a lawn mover. They live on an affluent street however it backs onto a council estate but was generally ok. My dad had to add extra security to the house such as locks.

They have a garage which is a good 60ft within out plot of land, there are gates and a hedge at the front of the property so anyone trying to get into it would be trespassing a fair distance. Anyway the garage has a passage way down the side where he normally stores firewood, but this is probably the way the thiefing bs managed to get round to the back of our house to break in.

My dad built a wooden framed mesh wire fence about 9ft tall to block the passage. Just for good measure he put a good few coils of razor wire at the top of it to prevent anyone climbing over. Quite legal i have been assured.

    Re: Kids, why?

something my folks were saying about this was that back in the 60s/70s if kids were causing trouble like that the police would turn up in a van with a lot of officers bundle them all in the back, scare the living daylights out of them, give them a clip round the ear then dump them back out on the road... they wouldn't do it again.

It is crazy how quickly things have changed, when I was 11/12 years old there was no way I would be rude or obnoxious to older young people or adults coz you'd get a kicking, and that isn't even that long ago (mid 90s). Now its almost like kids ar immune, they all know their "rights", and these rights seem to make it ok for them to do what they like.

There was an article in my local newspaper about 6months ago, a group of 12-15 years were smashing up guys car... he went out, they attacked him so he hit one of the little cretins. He got prosecuted!

I was walking home from the pub the other night and some kid tried to pick a fight with me because I didn't have a lighter! I'm not a small bloke either, 6'2" and 13 stone of me... I just said ok come here then, and he walked away. But its just ridiculous.

    Re: Kids, why?

I'm 15. I'm in this group which you're quite merrily slagging off. In my honest opinion, I agree totally with you. A large proportion of teenagers are complete and utter idiots. Putting it kindly. This is a public forum, I'm not allowed to swear.

On the plus side.. they're quite quickly killing themselves off with underage smoking and drinking and quite a few of them accelerate it further with drug use. Maybe they'll kill themselves off BEFORE they start procreating?

I should probably note, however, that it's only when they're in GROUPS that they're at their worst. They have to show off, and be 'cooler' than everyone else. They have unrealistic expectations of girls as well. And they must freeze to death out on the streets!

I'm just glad that I'm too sensible to go wandering about the streets, and much prefer sitting in the warmth on my computer.

Unfortunately not as quite a few of them will have ALREADY started procreating by your age.

I'm sure the cocky little thugs are getting younger as well. I've recently been asked to buy fags for kids who can't have been more than 12, probably younger, and had swear words shouted at me randomly across the street by kids I reckon were about 8. I have to say, I fell about laughing at the time but it really is quite sad the extent this has got to.

Well now I'm working in a school, even in a reasonably quiet area, I am seeing the extent of the mayhem close up.

I mean, my gf's brother is essentially one of these little cretins and I'd take much pleasure in using it as an excuse to deck the **** if he ever gave me a reason. We see him around town with his little cretin mates and you know as soon as they are out of sight they are up to the usual..

He want's a 'ped' for xmas.. Anyone know where Mr Glitter is living now?

    Re: Kids, why?

what we need is some form of prison for kids that really need it!
the wall up at the shop has just recently been pulled down because some kids got bored! now.. how exactly did they manage this?! and what made them think 'lets rip a wall down'?
    it's just completely beyond me!
i wasn't perfect when i was younger, i got into bit of trouble and stuff, but i never did anything like trying to break into garages or 'trying to hotwire a boat' (anyone remember that? )
