    Christmas present, song lyrics?

In short a good friend of mine has helped me thru a lot recently and i want to thank her by giving her the single & song lyrics for Leona Lewis - Run, but in an 'upmarket' sort way.

Can anyone advise a good way of doing this? Maybe the song lyrics printed off & a copy of the CD label in a nice photo frame? Im not very creative so any ideas would be great!

    thanks guys

Write them in ink or etch them in wood (i'm killer at that ).

Make your own CD cover and more importantly back part of the CD cover and thank her, however seems fit, in the liner notes

    Re: Christmas present, song lyrics?

Iv got terrible hand writing! What if i copied them to word, laid out in verses with the CD art work in the middle and printed it off on photo paper? Add a nice photo frame, and see how it looks?

Only concern would be how many lyrics there are, id rather not give her a massive photo frame that will tower over everything else.

What about just putting in a few key versuses of the song? and using the above idea?

    thanks

edit: im running off a budget here aswell, student loan doesnt come in for another month and i need to try and keep it as cheap as is reasonably possible!

    Flashy.. and shinny lol

Hmm well a wood etching thing wouldn't be too much nor would wood as long as you don't mess it up lol

Do you have a hobby craft? If so.. get down there and find a small wooden box that a CD will fit in and etch the cr@p out of it Key verses (the most meaniful to the situation perhaps?) would be good.

That's what i did for the Mrs and she loved it (though there was a ring inside not a CD.. but still!).

If your hand writing is that bad.. it will mean all the more that it's done that way. girls think strangely remember..

    Re: Christmas present, song lyrics?

Wish i was a bit more creative, this sort of thing does not come naturally to me at all.

Im thinking of getting a picture of us (off fb, cant get hold of the original) and putting some of the key lyrics on it, but off to one side. Print it off on some high gloss photo paper & find a very nice photo frame. Seems a tad cheap though, but i cant think of a way of improving on it or giving it a more upmarket look to it.

Etched into wood sounds nice, but i wouldnt have a clue on how to do it, or where to start! Any advice on how to tart up, or give a more professional look to the photo & lyrics idea? Fact im visiting family in south africa for a week also makes tracking any non-common supplies down a real problem. example today, went looking for 400mhz laptop RAM, and was quoted 70quid per gb .

thanks again guys, the help is very much appriciated!

    Re: Christmas present, song lyrics?

Frame the photo and write the lyrics on the back of the frame in gold or silver or something like that.

Or get some black/dark paper (not white - too common) and handwrite/cut out the font of a good verse or chorus (or maybe just a small quote - often more meaningful) and stick it on.

Or cut letters out of a magazine and arrange them to form a quote on some nice paper.

The wood engraving's a great idea, or a quicker variation is to use a magnifying glass and a stong lamp to burn letters into some wood (you could try doing it outside but it's winter afterall!).

Something like this I reckon you should do by hand, even if you're "not creative" (which i don't believe is possible ) you can trace over printed fonts if your handwriting is bad, and it just comes across as a lot more personal.

The thing about just printing something off a computer is that it's dead easy to do, while it's quite hard to make it look good and not like an office memo. In contrast handmaking something is a lot more personal, and looks more thoughtful too

Spend a bit of time doing it and frame it afterwards and it'll look great, and I'm sure your friend will love it too - cause it's the thought that counts, not how long you've been using photoshop or how good your handwriting is
