My point was simple, Red Alert has always been coded by muppets, from the very begining, it took ages to load etc.
Bad code will always break, be it new OS, new hardware, or even new firewall software!
Its kind of like someone complaining the road wasn't built how they wanted, as they try to transport a house!
But this is off topic, however feal i should point out i've played Transport Tycoon at a lan before now (it was like 3 am, and our reaction times where shot!)

my point is also simple, game that we play at lan + vista = fail, therefore vista fail for lan

There's plenty else going on, all we found is that C&C is not the kinda game to be installed ont eh fly @LAN as its difficult. deffo a pre-load kinda game!

I should have the unit idependancy pack nocking about somewhere too. That and corecontigency really made 10 hour long games possible

Meh, I don't know the difference between different configs and all that...
Vista came pre-installed on this laptop, and rasta said it was hard to load in the first place (confirmed when I tried to have a test game)
