It really is that simple.
When making a roast, it works better if you use the water from the vegitables as a base, as some flour, mustard powder can give it a kick. I like chessnut button mushrooms, bit of cellary, tiny bit of spring onoin too. Often i cheat when doing a chicken, and use a stock as the base.
It is really easy, the only hard bit comes when you add the juices of the meat. When u've done that you normally get the fat too. This means u want to skim off the fat, otherwise not only is it un-healthy, but it will leave a slimy taste in your mouth.
A good gravy you could eat dilouted like a broth and it would taste loverly.
A gravy granual type thing often just tastes of salt + msg.

As i'm veggie I don't really like the sound of chicken going into gravy
I think mostly what happens at home is water + oxo and a bit of bisto ...
Perhaps I'm just not that fussy...
No ur a veggie, thats basically like saying i don't want to eat 90% of the foods out there.
You ever tried making onion gravy? Really easy to do.
Goes well with some nice creamy mash + sasuages.

Gotta be nice and thick.
Another vote for thick but not lumpy here
What next? The Campaign for Real Gravy?
Thick but not lumpy for me
lol
I'm of the instant society, so loads of granules, add hot water stir. Add more granules for texture and thickness. Job done.
Add mint if having lamb, add apple for pork. Hmmm ...
Such is the wonder of my culinary skills ...
Thats a couple of things I just don't like. Mint or apple sauce. I know they ae supposed to go with lamb and pork but I just don't get it. Mint is for sweet things, not savoury.
Mint sauce and lamb is a glorious combination. If it didn't taste good, then someone put toothpaste on your lamb chops and hoped you wouldn't notice the difference. Apple sauce is a bit more of an acquired taste I think, didn't like it as a kid, love it now.
