I think the pain is likely to be caused by the heat or weight of your laptop, or the fact that you are expecting it to happen - I know I've been there myself. Bluetooth emits a tiny amount of RF power - it has a range of only about 10m so I wouldn't worry about it. If you had modified a microwave oven to operate while open then I would worry....

    Re: ballache, bluetooth and wifi??

In regards to Microsaves, my girlfriends mate made the following silly mistake.

Mobile phones placed in microwave turned on, she rang one of the mobiles in the microsave, she was safe, behind a kitchen unit, while her male friend was tasked with closing the door and making a run for it..the microwave went boom..leaving him needing stiches to the back of his head.

Matty, remember that next time your thinking about messing with a microwave, instead of being Matty one ball, you could be Matty no life or Matty no eyes .

I for one get the same weird feeling. It's not pain, but if I have a laptop with wifi on my lap for more than about 20 minutes, it feels like my balls are being pulled....it's not right, and I dont like it. If I forget..I soon remember.

So, lets not kid outselves... wifi is powerful stuff as it is, and cramming it onto your scrotum area prolly aint a great idea.

If you can hear it, then it's such low frequency that it's not worth thinking about.

A lot of components make a noise (particularly inductors and power-related circuitry) and based on changing load will vary in noise. Annoying, but rarely anything to worry about (unless it annoys you too much).

Yeah lots of electronics make high pitched noises, nothing to worry about.

probably this. having legs open enough to be 100% comfortable means the lappy is unstable
