my ebuyer experience is faultless.
Had a few things happen
1. Expensive item faulty... rung up... arrange pick up next day and swapped when courier came to door.
2. Cheap item picked up swapped at door... and wierdly they then sent me the faulty one back lol so got refund and faulty item.
3. Cheap item recieved replacement before they recieved the faulty i sent.
Awesome customer service.
Ok now lets try Scan.
1. faulty motherboard... reported fault sent back at my own cost.... they tested and agreed it was faulty so sent me a replacement.... they sent me the wrong motherboard sent me one about £15 cheaper... they appolgised and collected and sent out the right one.... guess what... exact same motherboard i sent back i know this because one of the capacitors was bent to the side from when i had nudged it and i had also broken a piece of plastic off the board.
So i complained they said they would check for faults on this "new" motherboard... and guess what they said it wasnt faulty and charged me for a testing fee because it wasnt faulty... they also sent it back with the testing notes included.
Ok here is the quote from one of the scan guys on this forum it was internal email printed out "this guy is complaning loads about this fault run it for two days and see if there is a fault" now maybe its just me but seems a little informal and also included in the box was emails printed out of another customer.... i sent scan an email saying i had personal details from a customer that wasnt me... guess what ive still got them "they looked" into the problem lol.
So all in all... still had faulty motherboard... i bought a new one off ebuyer.... i still think scan suck for customer service and think they really should take data protection act more seriously lol.
I think we should be careful when naming names because I can see this thread going into lock down.......
Not unless you go too far. Criticism is one thing, and we don't lock threads on other suppliers, unless they go too far, either. But we have to draw a line if it does go too far.
Scan are big boys, and they are here to respond if they wish. I certainly see no reason to censor members just because they're not happy with Scan. We support freedom of speech. as much as we can, but like in the bid bad real world, absolute freedom of speech doesn't exist.
And just for the sake of clarity, quite where that line is is a judgement call. If you moan about a perceived bad service, that's one thing. If you start in on legally actionable matters, that's another. Somewhere in-between is the line.
I've never used ebuyer before, only Scan, OCUK and Aria in the past. Having said that I've been on a real rollercoaster with regards to returns and refunds over the last few months, so ebuyer might not be half bad option. My current record for longest time waiting for refund is about 7 weeks, which was Scan.
As for the shortest, mine was eBay. I bought an old DVD drive that was DOA and he refunded me the same day, no questions asked - I chucked it in the bin and that was the end of it. Obviously you'll never get an etailer doing the same thing, but you can't complain about service like that!
7 weeks for a refund!!!! Yikes, bet you were really peeved!
yup... then I asked for my money back. that took a bit longer though.
the best "RMA" was eBay though. I bought a 48 port Cisco switch with 2 x slots for giga modules. The slots didn't work (although the 48 x 100mbps ports did) and the guy refunded my cash inc postage and told me to keep the switch!

Another thing that i am confused about is when someone returns a faulty item and then the shop returns it back saying they have sent out a replacement!! Don't they check things properly?
Unless there's an "error on the system" which means it's actually out of stock and the warehouse data was wrong, and then when it comes into stock they ship it to your billing address rather than the requested delivery address, and then you have to argue with them for nearly 2 weeks before they agree that they should refund you for the Saturday shipment that didn't happen.
It's just my experience - I've placed 2 orders with eBuyer, and the one detailed above will be my last. No more.
