Re: Things that you feel you may have missed out on

Infact, thats a good one. I went to Uni but didnt take the opportunity/ chance to live the "proper" uni life. I stayed at home while going to a local uni, which was ok but I guess there is a lot that I missed with not going away to Uni but at the same time I wouldn't have met my gf whom I have been with nearly four years...but then again I may have met another girl.

I suppose with everything someone has missed they can pick something they wouldn't have done or been able to do.

Re: Things that you feel you may have missed out on

I don't really think I've missed out any single big thing, but I do feel I miss out on a lot of little opportunities from being too conservative not taking any risks, waiting for other people to act rather than making things happen myself. But I'm only 21, so maybe things will change if I look back in another 20 years.

Also, may have missed out on the chance to get anything above a 2:2 in my degree through drunkenness and procrastination, although I've had a good time, and I blame it on the crappy assessment methods in the final year...
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.

I most definitely did not miss out on trance...I got into the 90s rave scene heavily until about 2002.

What I do feel I missed out on was festivals, I have never been to one but I am making up for it having booked a Glastonbury 2009 ticket

Doing it "old man style" though and have hired a caravan for the week, no tents for me lol

I have a similar feeling, but for a different reason. I'm at uni now, but am a medical student, and I really feel like you don't get the true 'uni experience' like you do from a normal course. I'm sure some people will read this and think, "bloody medics, think they've got it so much worse", but I hear my housemates complaining about having to go to the library in their Easter holidays, and I don't have an Easter holiday - they have 3 weeks!

But like Disturbedguy said, if I hadn't have gone to med school I might not have met all the great people I have. Time for a scooby-doo alternative reality moment! Waving of hands and 'boopity-boop-boopity-boop-boopity-boop-boopity-boop'.....

You can still go man, I didn't go until I was 26, then I went again last year. It all depends on where you go regards beer boys, we stayed in playa den bossa which is really the 'cool' bit of this island along with Ibiza town and it was lush. Met loads of friendly people from all over the world. I even went to San Antonio for one night which you would imagine would be full of beer boys but it was in fact a lot smarter than I thought it would be. Don't let the booze hounds put you off, Ibiza is really THE only destination for a proper clubbing holiday.

Zak, you didn't miss out on Trance as the best years I think have been and gone. There are some fantastic tunes I would recommend to you if you like.

Doing a Uni course I would have enjoyed....

I did medicine and I hated it. In fact I don't practice as a doctor any more. Quite frankly I think to have done some other course would have been great BUT then I would not have the life I have now.

That and rollerskates. I never persevered with them enough.

I disagree, I think it's definitely picking up again over the last 2 years, after, yes, a particularly ropey time.

You're never too old to go to a trance night, it's classy and you'll always be in good company.

And I'm going Ibiza for the first time this year (@26) with friends who are 37+.

Good call. I gave up trying to learn to ride a bike when I was young. Mainly because I had one massive crash (back of the garden, into wood fence, downwards slope). I've tried again since then, and I wuss out everytime.

The one thing i regret not doing is joining the RAF. Could have joined at 16, but i didn't get the test score to get the job i wanted. Was told to retake the test in 6 months. I never followed it up. Now i look at my sister and her husband and i am seriously gutted that i never went back.

University I don't regret, but I do wander how things would have turned out if i'd gone away to uni instead of staying at home. I might have finished the course, I'd probably be doing a different job than I am at the moment, but not necessarily a better job.

It has done in the past. I have learnt to accept my mistake and get on with life, no good to keep looking back and wondering.

And Trance is one of them.

Too old now, too many responsibilities too, but I'm working my way through the suggestions in Tiggerai's post about music to work too and I feel like maybe it passed me by while I was working and living another life.

IS there anything (not necessarily music) that you think maybe rolled past you?
I'm not sure exactly what people mean when they say trance - I listen to a ton of different kind of electronic music though, and I'm glad I do
