Just how many have they taken? Ones that are similar and redirect to a Google site when entered?
I just typed in "g" and entered, on accident - and it took me straight to Google mail. WTF?

well typing g is a shortcut for a google search on a lot of browsers....

On firefox it redirects non-urls to "i'm feeling lucky" - try putting "g" into google and that's where it'll go. It seems to be fairly clever about when it decides to redirect you and when it just gives you the google search results.
You can get some interesting results, for instance if you put in the stock market abbreviation for a company (say MSFT) into firefox's search bar it'll redirect you to the yahoo stocks/finance page for that company.
be honest, you're searching for the g-spot aren't you?
Thats your browser settings mate. You've got it to search from the address bar, which I have disabled.
http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=g reveals all
Or if you have firefox with the awesome bar, and use gmail frequently then it will take you there.
Opera also defaults to google for searching.
However, I've changed things a little and "g <search string>" goes to .co.uk, "w <search string>" searches wikipedia, "a <search string>" searches amazon etc.
