So upon signing out of hotmail, I saw this this:

The complaints that ASA received for some of these ads are just ridiculous!
What's wrong with people?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You can almost guarantee that 99%+ of those complaints were made by pensioners with nothing better to do...

This is why TV advertising is heading towards "branded entertainment", like the recent Dairy Milk adverts (the Gorilla one and the one with the weird eyebrow kids). There are too many stupid regulations and stupid people to risk doing anything that is clever or says anything meaningful.
People seem to be very readily offended, a lot of the time they're offended on the behalf of someone else.

The problem is people complain about things like this, not because they are offended, but because they believe someone else will be offended.
The ASA received 425 complaints from viewers who felt the ads were demeaning to women. However, the ASA said the ads humorously presented the absurd notion that an inanimate object could be turned on in the first place.
I found that amusing, particularly when taken out of context.
I remember that xbox ad they mention, was awesome. People seem to think its their god given right to complain and will excerise it no matter how much it spoils it for the rest of us.

Reiterating others; people complain about the most ridiculous subtleties in an advert.. things which really do not have the huge detrimental effect they make out!
Some great concepts/ideas have been hit by the complaint bandwagon.. but I'm sure some people write in not for the fact that they are offended but just incase there maybe one person who perceives it wrongly and of course they wouldn't want to be responsible; thus voice their opinion hoping this will help!
Of course rules/regulations need to be there otherwise we'd be at the other end of the scale... it's just finding a balance.
aha. Complaining on other peoples behalves.... Its too easy to just be able to complain now... I bet if you had to do it in person, people wouldn't bother!
On a side note:
Why would people want to complain on other peoples behalves? Inadequacy? Being PC?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You watch, ads will become just a picture of the product saying buy it.
The point is that you'll be the ones complaining. Duh!
Don't forget the other one
