So a friend ordered an album from play, it arrived today and upon opening it, there wasn't a CD...

What does he do!?

Thats going to be trickey. I'd try complaing to play and hope they're nice as you could have just taken the cd and then said you didn't get it.

ring up there customer support, he will most likely have to send it back but they are very nice on the phone tbh.

Then the factory messed up. It happens. I have a CD that says one thing, but when you play it, it is clearly something else entirely. 99 tracks of Italian singing is not what I ordered!

I decided to keep it and buy another copy of the album I was actually after. You never know it may be a collectors piece in years to come (doubtful though).

Can understand that as with LPs the ones with typos/wrong tracks on the sleeves are worth more IIRC

Well I ordered an XBox cable from Play, got a VERY cheap mouse instead. Sent it off got a refund of postage and my cable.

Lol I had a similar thing happen when I bought the DVD of Gladiator from HMV. Sealed and everything... get back to the office and open it and there's a DVD of Gladiator in it, but not the Gladiator with Russell Crowe it had Cuba Gooding Jnr on it and was about Boxing needless to say a big wtf appeared over my face returned to the shop soon after
