    Hmmm, seems it's worse than even the mess it was a few days ago.

    It's the fuzz!

    I take it all back, they will all be hanged. Probably in the electric chair.
    Yet another MP who didn't know he's paid his mortgage off, really does get worse by the minute.

    I hope there'll be a proper investigation and that we'll see a number of prosecutions out of this complete and utter fiasco. Somehow, I doubt it though.

    Re: MP's expenses released

    What frstrates me most about this is our inability to get it changed. Yeah the government will make all the right noises but I bet nothing will actually change. If I won the lottery I would be very tempted to start a political party.
    Someone said this is where 50% of our taxes get spent. The other 50% gets spent on the permanent staff of westminster that I suspect also get stupid expenses but aren't subject to public scrutiny(?).
    Why do they need any expenses? They can have free 1st class rail travel to get between westminster and their constituancy and accomodation provided near westminster. Something like a decent B&B should be sufficient for them. It's not like they don't know travel is included in the job when they apply for it!

    Maybe the constiuants should get to vote an an MP's pay for the year as well. If they have been crap they don't get more than a basic salary, somewhere around current JSA maybe. hmmm, this idea could require some more thought, but you get the idea.

    Re: MP's expenses released

    Sorry to bump an oldish thread, but i wanted to put this all in proportion. After all, the MPs do work hard... but lets see how they compare to the rest of the public in terms of pay;

    Sheer disgust doesn't even begin to sum up how i feel about them atm!
