How much do you download a month?

How much do you download in total a month, roughly? Everything from torrents, to iplayer, itunes, technet, download.com, direct2drive games, to updates, images and streaming from servers.

Main reason being im curious but id also like to gauge how much i download compared to everyone else and also what packages are best out there for downloading (ie truely unlimited). As always no discussing what you download, where you get it from or the legality of itl!

I probably put away 30-40gb a month on Sky's max package, and iv never had any problems.

Re: How much do you download a month?

The only stuff in actually download are game updates or updates for things like X-Fire, so I dont do that much downloading otherwise. Unless there is free program that I might want to try.

Re: How much do you download a month?

I've filled 800gb out of a 1tb external drive since Xmas, but thats on Sky Unlimited, stuck at 200kbps though

Dread to think how much I'd fill if I had Unlimited + a decent speed.

Not sure exactly, but likely in 3 figures. BT throttles me regularly on their unlimited package.

Re: How much do you download a month?

With the various PC's being used at various times I could easy pull over 200 Gb before I moved.

Now, because I'm on a neighbours wireless network (allowed, I asked and got their key ) and now looking after Hayden - I'd say about 5 Gb give or take.

An absolute assload - I'm seeding OpenSUSE, Fedora and Ubuntu torrents 24/7 (though limited to 100k upstream at peak times), Ventrilo comms for WoW for 2 of us, also the WoW data, an Exchange server, backing up a couple of website home directories and SQL dumps, Amazon S3 backups...

    Thank heaven for Be* Pro!

I used to download 30 gig or so a month, now I'd say hardly gone over 10 gig.

Anywhere from 100 to 400GB per month - 421.308 up+down last month. Mainly upstream, though - I leave uTorrent running.

Re: How much do you download a month?

I'd like to be able to do 100 - 400Gb per month but my ISP limits me to 30Gb!

It is a fairly reliable service (though I have DEFINITELY had problems with them in the past!) which is the reason I've stayed there (static IP is important to me)

My main use is VPN, Linux Distribution downloads, online updates (of course) and online radio. I'd love to be buying/downloading HD content and lossless audio, but both of those are bandwidth intensive and TBH rarely offer better value than buying the physical media (and I still like physical media so downloads have to be good value in comparison). A case in point is www.audible.co{.uk,m} - £ 15 -ish for 2 audiobooks (and WSJ/NYT subscription for about £1 more in the case of audible.com) - there you get two unabridged books which is good value (sometimes £60 - £80 worth if you buy the audiobooks on tape/CD (I know it's still more expensive than paperback and I miss those but have far less time to indulge in them than in my youth!). Music/film purchases (and rentals even) online seem pretty poor value.

How much does heavy gaming realistically use? Battlefield 2, World Of Warcraft etc. In terms of upload & download how much data can you shift with say a 12hour gaming stint?
