Ok, not quite the season yet, but spiders don't like the smell of conkers (horse chestnuts) - so leave some in a bowl in your house and the numbers go down. This from a friend of mine who is seriously arachnaphobic.

    Re: spiders

There is an ultra-sound plugin you can buy which when I first heard of it thought it was a complete and utter gimmick, now every year it comes out and the lil' demons stay away.

I also made a deal with the spider king when I was 12 basically they stay out of my way and I stay out of there's. Obviously they broke the treaty and fire rained upon the land of spiders.....Hmm I think I've had too much coffee or maybe not enough...

    Re: spiders

Or just leave them alone after coming to the realisation that they're just spiders.. harmless little spiders who aren't going to hurt you and will probably move on of their own accord if there isn't any prey in the area anyway..

I'm sorry but people killing spiders and insects and the like just because they don't like them really annoys me. After all, I'm not allowed to shoot cyclists.

Yup, until spiders lay claim to being sentient lifeforms, I'm killing any I find in my house.

    They are pure evil.

    Re: spiders

I hope giant tarantulas invade your sock drawers!

I could start collecting cyclists in my basement in a "It puts the lotion on its skin" style. Hmmm. Maybe make a Lance Armstrong outfit for fancy dress parties that way..

    I've said too much.

Anyway, if they were big, dangerous critters I'd understand it but they're not. You all need to strap on a pair and develop a sensible phobia of something like John Redwood and Bon Jovi.

    Hey,

PM'd you a link but I've just reached my 15 post count but I'm not sure if it went through (do all pm's save in sent items?). They don't seem to do the one I have but Maplin do a few with prices from £12 - £30 so I'll have a scout for any cheaper ones.

Link here just in case it didn't get through.

    Re: spiders

Spiders don't bother me, but buzzing insects that seem to find the way in, but not out of the flat does. I usually give them a stern warning and when if I still hear them after 30 seconds, well, I'll make them stop.
