I've been having a lot of trouble getting Generals to run on 7, luckily I still have an XP partition as backup.

I downloaded Gameshadow the other day, it does a pretty good job of keeping all my games up to date without having to go and search for all the patches individually.

    http://www.gameshadow.com/

On a side note, I met the bloke who founded the system when he was first starting up. I can't believe I scoffed at the idea back then (not to his face, that would just have been rude).

GRID, left4dead and orange box are all installed, patched up and fully working, just need to get some practice in now

finished last in 3 races in grid, the sudden spearing off at a corner headlong into the barriers doesn't help at least im not hitting the other cars or using them as braking devices.

need quicker reactions for shooting things in l4d, i'm putting it down to low mouse sensitivity.

dont need any practice for C&C, got a basic strategy planned out, just need to remember it.

need to do a complete system backup before i accidentaly mess the computer up again

Are you using a control pad for GRID? It's bloody difficult using the keyboard. However, Trackmania (which wasn't played at all last LAN for some reason) isn't too bad I found when using a keyboard. I'll have a spare Xbox controller you can borrow at the LAN is you want.
