I think the situation is that you can legally publish any book in the UK that doesn't come under the obscene publications act (and it was long established that charges under that act will not be pursued for any written words, although that might have changed recently with the Girls Aloud murder blogger).

But owning a copy yourself would open you up to charges of the new offence of possessing information likely to be of use to a terrorist (or however it goes), effectively making it an 'illegal book'. The terrorist charge is likely to be selectively applied, but if I were Cat Stevens I wouldn't be ordering it off Amazon.

Illegal books, a crime to have information and selectively enforced laws. Can't wait to see what the next ten years will bring
