World's Strictest Parents, on BBC3 at the mo. I so love this prog Watching the clueless waster kids get some hard-time parenting, it's a barrel full of lol's Stroppy oiks.
This series is looking up to be as much fun as the last.
Tonights young man went from dropkick to business admin wanabee in an afternoon!
Ahh Chesney from Bolton.
I've seen him in the supermarket a few times since the show was first broadcast
I've watched a few of these as well and the kids they send appear to be the worst of the worst that are floating around at the moment and this just tars all the rest of the youngsters with the horrible little brats brush which is not exactly fair is it?
Are the BBC going to address the balance by sending 2 well behaved kids to one of the families to show them that not all UK teenage kids are drunken, drug taking spolit brats?
Think you might be onto something; take two normal (not sure what that means) kids and send them to live with some deliquent parents; they could fight the family dogs for their dinner scraps then hide from the drunken wife beater until sunrise. World's slackest parents coming soon to Five!
Won't make for a good show will it? I watched this show for the first time after seeing this thread, and and treat it like a reality show (but with some good coming out of it given that neither parents in this season has 'failed').
I also found religious family episode interesting. While I reckon the majority of people on Hexus are not religious, with some at least feeling that it's got no place in the 21st century, I'd say that the kids who were sent to live with them did not come back worst off. Faith seem to have given the mother of that family a conviction to walk a decent path too. More power to people who can overcome such difficulties without, but we are probably all different in how well we can deal with adversities. And sure, their sons are pretty much given no say in the matter (and it's likely drilled into them to the point where I don't think that they are going to change), but at least it doesn't look like they are going to grow up as burdens to society.
From the little bits I've seen the kids on this show don't look that bad, they may be 'drunken, drug taking spolit brats' but they seem to be pretty obedient. When I was their age if I didn't want to do something, I just wouldn't do it, I was never really obnoxious or a spoilt brat, I was just very stubborn.
These kids seem to get on with the stuff they're told to do with pretty minimal fuss, maybe I need to give it another watch, but I'm sure they could find much more kids although that probably wouldn't make for much of a TV show when they flat out refuse to co-operate.
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.
Just watched the America one - the kids were refusing to do most stuff early on and just wandering off and generally ignoring what they were told to do. Dunno what caused the change, they seem to go from argumentative stroppy brats to co-operative kids in about 5 minutes of air time.
some sort of super nanny kind of show?
As soppy as it sounds, it's basically just tough love. The parents come down hard at first to show they're in charge (even if it doesn't look like they are at times) and then show an affectionate/compassionate side. You need both the authority & the caring. It will probably be the same case for 90% of the kid.
Interesting 2 programs so far. That lad in the 2nd episode was a such a stereotypical little rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish! "She'd better be fit" etc.
3rd Episode tonight if anyone has forgotten
In Botswana too (I love Africa )
