Good time to look for a new job?

Hi. i am thinking on when it is the best time to go job hunting as i am growing tired and frustrated where i am at the moment and not really motivated that much any more.

I am a software developer and been here for a couple of years now. My dilemma is that i have just booked a holiday to go to the Philippines for the whole of February next year.

I am wondering if i should look for a job now and if i land one will my new employer grant me permission to take that holiday, look in january and try to get a new job before i go on holiday and start in a months time when i come back from my holiday(i still need to give 1 month notice), Or start looking after I come back on holiday?

As far as I am aware, if you have booked a holiday BEFORE starting a new job then the company can't stop you taking it. I booked a three week holiday before I started where I am now and the boss was fine with it, although he did have 8 or 9 months notice compared to the 2 or 3 yours would be getting.

I suppose you could always mention it in an interview.

Re: Good time to look for a new job?

    Both.
If you're serious, put your CV out there to a few agents and tell them you'll be available from the end of Feb. Not much hiring will hapen over the holiday period anyway, and the agents can work for you in the meantime, possibly emailing you suitable roles.
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.
