I blame that Bram Stoker guy, for making Vampires 'sexy' and ultimately leading to the sickening media phenomenon that is 'Twighlight'.
What I don't get is the whole attraction of it all. . . apart from Buffy
This is the only Twilight film I have any interest in seeing -
To be a bit more serious though it's just a phase, it's happened before. Movies are kinda moving away from zombies again and it looks like vampires were just next in line and easily marketable.

I liked Twilight, and thought the books were fab! but I can't understand the hype surrounding it all to be honest
Twilight was bad... really bad. There is a lot of vampire things surfacing at the moment it is a bit stupid. My cousin made me laugh though 'im a confused teenager can the pasty white vampire come and save me from my sexually confused and exploratory ways'
True blood on the other hand is fricking awesome!
I don't know why I did it, I'll never be able to explain it.. but I actually read all of the twilight books on a particularly boring week during the summer.
After this soul destroying journey of awfulness I came to one conclusion. The film (yet to see new moon and wont be bothering until it's on tv) is so much better than the book... but only because it's over quicker.
Total trash, the woman literally has no idea how to write one book let alone a series of books. I'm sure she had no idea what was going to happen from book to book. The last one is so utterly pointless I had to laugh when I finished it, she won't let a single bad thing happen to her characters..any of them. If she wrote star trek.. she would be finding a way to save the guy in red every episode. Joke.
However I do like a lot of vampire movies, I don't know why but it's quite an interesting theme (at times) and when used properly can make for good viewing/reading.
Underworld was a good one
Pretty boys? I've got more than one person on FB who went 'EDWARD KYAAAAAAAAA' when Twilight was released. In fairness, it's no worse than the Buffy obsession. [Though I've never seen a single episode of Dark Angel, I find Jessica Alba hotter than Sarah Michelle Gellar - not that she's unattractive]
Kyaaaaaaa?
Good teeth??

There's something enduringly popular about vampires though it's interesting why that should be. An animated corpse living on the blood of others isn't very sexy if you break it down like that. There's a good deal of literary examination on blood drinking being symbolic of sex in earlier times but perhaps that's less so now.
I remember James V. Hart (one of the writers of the Bram Stoker's Dracula film) who said that of all the movie monsters the only one he might go for if he was forced to choose would be Dracula. What was the tagline for Lost Boys - something like party all night, live forever and never get old. Maybe those are factors too?
I quite like the Anne Rice take on vampires though they can be a little frilly around the collar for my tastes. True Blood I've been watching and enjoying and Kate Beckinsale in Underworld with fangs and pvc catsuit was nothing short of genius (particularly the catsuit!) Blade is fun too. I've not watched or read any of the Twilight series, I'm none too happy with the ideas of vampires just glittering if they go out in sunlight, I prefer the more traditional barbecue idea but each to their own, I suppose. The latter seems a bit teeny-bopper in scope.
im a BIG Blade fan and the movie adaptation basically spiraled my interest into all the other Marvel superheroes.
i think its in that respect that its Blades biggest Strength and his weakness.
on the flip-side - my Girlfriend (who wont admit it) is a slave to trends and when Twilight came on sky we had to watch it - which then progressed in us seeing Twilight: New Moon last night - not a bad film, just not a take on vampires that i like.

I'm pretty sure Spike (from Buffy) wore sunscreen to go out in daylight once... (season 2 perhaps?).
Anyhow, I have no idea on Twilight and the only thing I have read/heard about it is down to the guys who appear in it i.e. the Kyaa factor.
Blade was good fun to watch though but only the first movie.
Always been an avid vamp fan....as to why....who knows?
The power, the immortality, the fear....what isn't there to like?
