I feel such an old Moose!!
Even if I do get a huge student loan and manage to find another job and keep it all the way until september then I'm looking at living very basic. Won't be able to have any luxuries whatsoever, like upgrading computer, going to T in the Park, even going on holiday and stuff. All my older siblings lived at home so even if my parents could afford me to give me a hand I doubt they would.
I'd like to move out, but it's just not the best option even if it would be a good experience.
Just got an unconditional from Leeds, my first choice w00p - studying environmental science XD
Has anyone had an experience taking a desktop to uni? Im trying to decide what to do, i might buy a cheapish portable laptop for lectures/ travel/ library etc and take the desktop for some power - ie when i get angry and the laptop being slow.

Can imagine even having a netbook for lectures would be good, you just want something really easy to carry around and take notes on really. I assume you are living in the halls? Can't see any reason why you wouldn't bring your desktop to be honest.
Got an unconditional for Computing Science at Strathclyde. Very surprised at that, since I only got a C in Higher Maths. Still good though .
Ive got a netbook atm but tbh for typing on its not great, and im sure i could convince my parents to "invest in my future" aha. I would like to get a disability grant cause i have had sustantial surgery and thus scaring on my hands - i cant tell you how much difference that makes for writing as i have nothing to compare it to! however i doubt i would qualify.

Just for the update, the offer was indeed A*AA for Maths and Stats. They claim it's to differentiate between the horde of candidates they're receiving this year, apparently it was only AAA last year and it's only this year they've upped it to A*AA, don't quote me on this though.
Hopefully I'll meet those grade
That's deadly, I could swear that triple As weren't as common in the past, and this is the first time I've seen an A* requirement too! What's the grade requirement for Oxbridge these days?
A* has only been embraced by very few places so far. It's only Cambridge and UCL I think but notable exceptions include Oxford. It's supposed to be because AAA isn't good enough to differentiate between the top candidates.
Requirements are an average of 80% over the 2 year A Level including 90% or above at A2. So, you could get as "low" as 70% at AS and 90% at A2.
As for whether or not more unis will start using it remains to be seen as this is essentially the first trial year.
And for the person who mentioned Cambridge offers, I know that for medicine the offer is A*AA and I have no doubt it's the same for their other more competetive courses.
T'would be UMS.
