    Freesat problem??

    Hi,
I have just set up my Freesat box (goodmans) and I only seem to get 25% of the channels!! The scan sees all the channels but when I try to view I get "No Service" the channel I do get are good quality, What is the problem with my set up?

i would check to make sure your dish is properly aligned and to make sure your lnb is cleaninsh and if you can swap out the cable between the dish for another one just to be sure

    Re: Freesat problem??

Hi, Thanks for the advice, but the cable is new the dish & LNB are new, the signal is 60 to 70%. Could I be tuned into the wrong satelite that only transmitts these few channels? what should the transponder and the other thing it gets from the satellite be reading?

Channels I don't get are ITV HD, ITV regional ones except london non of the children channels except POP, Most BBC channels channel 4 & 5, and many others.

Some I do get BBC1 (some regional), ITV London, BBC HD, ITV2 the rest I can't remember

It wold be very rare you getting a signal from more than one satellite. You probably are only getting information from one or two transponders.

I use a darkbox and receive all channels but my parents had a problem with their receiver (another brand) and I had to remove all channels and rescan for it to find all the other channels.

    Re: Freesat problem??

Sorry I shoudl have explained, the reason why it is strange you would be receiving a signal from more than one satelitte is because at 29.2 there is multiple signals but they are all on the same angle (you miss one you miss them all - normally). The nearest satellites are over 2 degrees either direction and dont come with the British channels you expect.

Here is a list of the channels on that satellite - lyngsat

    Re: Freesat problem??

    Hi again.
The receiver "sees" all these channels, even the guide states the correct program, but if i select the channel I get "No service" I can live with not having most of the channels, the one I want that wont work is ITV HD

ITV HD rarely shows content and when it does it rarely works, you aren't missing out on much

Given the amount BBC HD/Luxe HD show it's practically nothing, a few select shows per week, and they don't always work (massive issues last time I tried them as they couldn't get the video stream working and there was just audio, a black screen and occasionally an image)

    Re: Freesat problem??

Update! After 2 hours of paying about with the dish I came to the conclusion it cant be the dish or the LNB. I then decided to remove a break at the wall and have the cable go straight to the Reciever, this had some success I got more channels but lost some I used to have!!!. I decided to manually tune the channels I didn't get and this worked!!! so I have all channels but some are stored in the non freesat list. I think the reciever is faulty in some way because it loses some channels and I have to manually re-tune to get them back.

Thanks for the help, hope this thread can help others who experiance the same thing.
