Bravo and Channel 1 binned

Sky have just binned Bravo and Channel 1 (in favour for yet more gameshow reruns and soap drivel). Doesn't effect me much as I don't have access to Bravo (Freeview only, no cable, too far out in the sticks for such things and I'll be darned if I'm going to pony up any cash to Sky directly) but I do watch Virgi... er Channel 1.

Looks like I'll either have to buy the DVD's of Chuck and Warehouse 13 (yes I know but I like it) or hope a terrestrial channel picks them up. I was looking forward to V (caught an episode on a free pass weekend on sky 3 and quiet liked it) and a few of the other coming soon shows that they had coming up. I guess I'll never see them now

Is there a good reason for Sky doing this, other than trying to push Freeview users to a paid service, most of them likely to choose Sky? I was planning on switching all services to Sky next year, but this action will see me moving to Virgin.

Channel one is on freeview, it replaced Virgin 1.

Channel One is being replaced with Challenge TV on Freeview, that's the issue many have with Sky. I guess Channel One was competing too well with Sky One (one of the few reasons to join Sky), so if you can't beat them, buy them out and shut them down.

I wonder how long it will be before a Facebook campaign starts up... though I suspect it would be mostly men signing up considering the main programs on the channel. Though my sister is quite keen on Spartacus for some reason

I just download the shows now though. I pay a full Sky subscription (including multiroom and HD) but I'm sick of them cutting various bits out of our shows (Spartacus on Bravo, V and Eureka on Sci-Fi etc) so now I just download and watch as intended straight from the US. I don't see the harm in it as I still pay the full Sky subscription as mentioned above so it's not like piracy or anything.

Only just finished watching Sons of Anarchy (season 1&2 boxset), was this aired on Bravo or another channel?
