Is it possible ?
Sorry if it's a daft question but with TV's now connecting direct to the internet, is there a risk of say, denial of service.
I mean, omg, it's me telly an' the X-Factor could be due to come on (Rebecca for the win). Ta.

well quite obviously depends on what os they use for the software.
The ones that will include google tv for example built in, possible but unlikely.
Its possible if they've left a way to update the OS, but the infection mechanism would be trickier as they're not designed to run downloaded content. They'd have to find bugs in the media playing software that gave root access

This is bunny and friends. He is fed up waiting for everyone to help him out, and decided to help himself instead!
Basically if you can software on something, you can put malicious software on something, regardless of OS or security features, given enough time and desire. So yes, technically, but I doubt you'll see anything more than 'nuisance' attacks for a good while yet. PC's are going to remain an easier, more widespread and more rewarding target for the foreseeable future, until the TV contains banking details, significant computing power or something else worth expending the effort to hijack.
It's possible, but they will need to be more widespread before they're targed by the malware authors. MIPS routers, & others, are already having bots loaded on to them - they're more of a target because all traffic goes over them, which can be sniffed, and they're essentially undetectable aside from perhaps being able to see flickering LEDs on the front. The LEDs can often be controlled by software, too.

Yup, have you not seen the Symantec updates regarding the W32.Neck.Clicker virus? Nasty stuff, I'd turn your TV off and stare out the window instead....
Yup, very possible, particularly as SoC based designs are needed to deliver the kinds of features it seems we want nowadays.
However, just because it's possible doesn't mean it's profitable, but I'm sure at some point it'll be worth it for cyber criminals.
There is one its called the X-Factor.

I'd guess that anything that reads data off the internet is open to attack by a malformed file of some description, although it would depend heavily on the type of file and the uderlying technology as to how much damage it would do. I imagine the first attacks will be denial of service: something malformed in a file that crashes the system. Once an attacker can achieve that, it's probably just a matter of time before they can start injecting code and actually performing more serious attacks. *shrug*
So yeah, I guess it's possible, but like everyone else I assume that it'll be a long time before it becomes a reality.
And as for
there are many more than that which is why I no longer own a TV...There is one its called the X-Factor.
im sure the "antivirus" companies are working on them right now.
