Great sayings that you really love!

In an attempt to counteract the faintly negative aura of the other sayings thread, I thought I'd start a slightly more positive one, asking which sayings and phrases people are particularly fond of at the moment!

I will be interested to see how much overlap there is between the contents of the two threads

I'll start us off with my favourite word to dissuade my managers from poor choices, which is to describe things as "sub-optimal". Works every time, but I still haven't figured out why...

Odd maybe but i fail to not use them whenever i'm playing a game for some "unknown" reason

Used to work with a guy from Derby who cracked me up with his sayings. I think his best one was when he was going to go to the toilet and he'd come out with "right lads, just off to lay me a batch of man eggs"

Usually applied to used car salesman and real estate agents.

A couple from my Brummie youth, which I still use today....

In answer to the inevitable question from the kids when we went for a surprise drive "Where are we going?" - "Round the back of Rackhams", only pronounced "round the bakkarakkams".

And something Ive noticed myself saying just recently when describing something which is bigger than the norm "That's a ***** and a half" - but gawd knows where Ive got that from.

My other fave sayings that Ive nicked from other folk "He's a waste of food" and "that's what I like about you .............. nothing"

another old Brummie one, this time describing someone who has the jitters is "He's like a fart in a colander- dont know which hole to go out of"

Not really a favourite saying, but I find myself saying it on a daily basis!

Can be used for cats/lazy buggers I work with/Kids that are blocking up doorways and causing hazards etc etc

There was a teacher at school, he was old and going senile, he was also head of geography (perhaps one is the result of the other, though I'm not sure which way round to put it). He was known for shouting "oi! you! boy with the tie!".

We all wore ties. And blazers and we all had hair. Those were other things he liked identifying pupils by.
