Ah i see, i thought you ment you would just let them do as the please no matter what, back on topic!
Mmm read your last one before this one..
Would depend on the weapon they threaten with, generally if someone comes up to you with a weapon its not to say hello, scaring them off, maybe but at the end of the day you stop them attacking you and yours.
And yes, never start a fight..
.. but always finish one.
Attackers in my home vs in the street attacking a window are two totally different things.
In my home I'd happily grab the sharpest/heaviest object and (a la Signs) "Swing Away" !
I think it is a bit harsh to say the society has degraded. There were SIX guys with sledge hammers AND protective helmets.
Back to topic, I think the woman is a hero. It was a very dangerous thing to do but she was VERY brave and it worked out well. I think she should be commended for it.
Ahhh yes, sorry society is fine isnt it...
It seems that the lady thought that one of the lads was being attacked by the others. She intervened in an attempt to stop him from getting hurt. Admirbale then? Also, she had quite likely quaffed a pint of early morning Wife Beater (tm) in Wetherspoons, if she is anything like the OAPs around here that is
It was a silly thing to do, especially given the number of sledge-hammer wielding attackers involved, but her heart was in the right place.
Only three of the guys actually had weapons rest were on bikes, if ALL the people there would have ran in the robbers more than likely would have legged it. They may have had weapons but they wouldn't have been able to stop all the people getting close enough to floor them.
You will need total coordination (with a lead coordinator) between ALL the people there, who must have been total strangers. Remember that it happened quite quickly - it was all over in less than a minute I think.
I think the only thing we can say is that when the granny went in and started it, the others should have joined in. I believe there were reports that when one of them raise their hammer at her and when she asked people to join, some members of the public joined in but it doesn't look the case in the video.
Distrubedguy, possibly we should rename you 'Internet-toughguy'.
Its simply not worth it to save a load of daft trinkets from some shop. This whole thing would look a lot different if this gang were more hardcore than the amateur charvas they seem to be and one of them just took her out with a swift bat to the face wouldn't it?
It just isn't worth it for property, especially property that isn't even yours.
My view on it is similar to the reasons I left the TA in around 2003, certainly no way I was going to risk the chance of being called up to fight Blairs oil war, if on the other hand the Iraqis were at the white cliffs of Dover I might have thought differently. To go back to this situation, if this gang had been battering somebody then I would be much more likely to try and intervene, but for mere possessions, forget it pal.
