All I said and still stand by, is that if enough peolpe would have charged them I can't really see them putting up much of a fight, but hey I mean heaven forbid I should have my own opinion on something.

I don't know where I said you shouldn't have an opinion, my comment was simply about the nature of your opinion. You seem to have a pretty gung ho attitude to tackling armed robbers and frankly, I don't think you have really thought through the potential consequences which is what I was pointing out.

Option 1 - get involved, hope the public around you backs you up.

potential outcome : possibly save the trinkets or possibly injury or death for you or those around you.

Option 2 - Do nothing, let the police and insurance companies handle it

potential outcome : some scum bags get away with a load of overpriced trinkets, or the police catch them and they don't get away with it.

Does the potential positive outcome of option 1 stack up with the potential negative consequences do you think?

I was also amazed by the number of people watching it. It however shows how most people are Sheepel, and it takes the action of a brave leader to take charge and show people what to do. I noticed also it was not until the gang has started to turn and flee did the many of the other watchers start to move towards the gang. (I presume the felt they could get some glory with little risk at that point).

Seriously - 6 guys with sledgehammers, and you'd go up against them solo when, as it obvious from the video, no-one else is going to do anything to help you? There's brave, and then there's suicidal...

Most thieves are .... thieves, the longer the crime takes the better the chance they will be caught, most do not want a fight as it will delay them also they the police could find it a lot easier to charge them with ABH/GBH to get a meaningful sentance.

They may not want to fight but they will want to get away. I wouldn't fancy being 'accidentally' bludgeoned during their escape; not for a few ridiculous baubles anyway. The Police will nail this bunch of amateurs.
