Libya is particularly impressive:
It's certainly uncomplicated. I like the red cross and red crescent flags for the same reason.
The only more complicated one I like is the Brazilian flag... not sure why, maybe it's just because the colours seem to work.
Always liked the Swiss flag, as you mentioned.

I thought the UK flag did represent something about Wales, it represented the fact that England merged with Scotland and Wales was conquered. Right or wrong, that is the way it is. When the flag first came out the many Scots tried to get the white part of the Scotish cross to go over the top of the middle of the English flag.

The present flag depicts the crosses of St George, St Andrew and St Patrick. There's no representation of St David. But it would be hard to add more to something that is already a 'busy' design.

but how.... the Union Flag needs to evolve.. the English ross rocks but the Union Flag needs updating.
Besides.. I want a dragon in OUR flag.....
